Newt’s Newest Lie Soon To Be Revealed

Remember when Newt Gingrich promised to stay in the GOP primary election race until the Republican Convention in August? If you do not, perhaps this will refresh your memory.

Well, it now looks like that statement will soon be revealed as just another one of Gingrich’s many lies. It will prove to be just as untruthful as Gingrich’s statement that, “The $300,000 I was paid by Freddie Mac were for my services as, uh, a historian.” and “When I was speaker, we had four consecutive balanced budgets.” Still, maybe Gingrich’s best statement about lying was when he said, “Any ad which quotes what I said on Sunday is a falsehood.” So anybody who quotes Gingrich’s own words is lying? How’s that for twisted logic?

But let’s get to our latest news. The Huffington Post reports that despite Newt Gingrich’s vow to remain in the GOP race until the Republican Convention in August, it looks like he will soon quit the race. The blog reports that just yesterday in an interview with ABC News, Gingrich said, “I think we need to take a deep look at what we are doing”, adding that he would then have to “reassess”.

Those certainly sound like “quittin'” words from the candidate who’s campaign is millions of dollars in debt and who has laid off more than one-third of his staff. Oh well, Gingrich’s vow to stay in the race will simply be remembered as just another one of his lies like, “The Obama administration … would impose on every Catholic institution, every Jewish institution, every Protestant institution the Obamacare standard of what you have to buy as insurance.”

Oh Newt, we hardly knew ye!

GOP’s “Jobs Bills” Lies Exposed

If there is one single thing the Republican Party excels at, it is telling lies. Remember Sarah Palin’s “Death Panels”? How about George W. Bush’s “Weapons of Mass Destruction”? There was Ronald Reagan’s “The U.S. does not negotiate with terrorists”. We heard Mitt Romney say “Obama has made the economy worse.” Newt Gingrich said, “The $1.6 million I was paid by Freddie Mac were for my services as, uh, a historian.” Ron Paul lied about his racist newsletters and Rick Santorum said, President Obama is “driven by a phony theology – not a theology based on the Bible.” Is it any wonder that polls have shown Republican approval ratings as low as 10%?

One of the GOP’s favorite lies which is repeated by just about all of them is that they (i.e. House Republicans) have passed 30 “jobs bills” that have just been sitting in the Senate. Speaker of the House John Boehner (pronounced bo-ner) said last Sunday on Fox news (where else?), “30 jobs bills were passed over the last year in a Republican House of Representatives that are sitting in the United States Senate — thirty. Our focus over the last 12 months has been on jobs. Our focus over the course of the next 12 months is going to be on jobs.” The Republicans even have a webpage with a list of their so-called jobs bills.

Unfortunately for Mr. Boehner and the Republicans, somebody has been keeping score. Crooksandliars.com has gone so far as to point out why each of those bills is not, in fact, a jobs bill at all. Indeed, it is humorous to note that the Republicans’ web page lists only 27 (not 30) bills. There is another lie to add to the ever-growing list. The following is a brief synopsis of each alleged “jobs bill” and why it is not a “jobs bill” at all:

HR 3630 – The Middle Class Tax Relief & Job Creation Act of 2011: It cuts the 99-week maximum down to a 59-week maximum by mid-2012, allow states to drug-test UI recipients, and allow states to reduce state unemployment benefits and substitute federal funds. It also cuts funding for key provisions of the Affordable Care Act coming online. It also repeals the new timing rules for estimated corporate tax payments for companies with assets of $1 billion or more so that they can use payments of estimated taxes as a timing tool for fourth quarter profit declarations. So, where is the job creation in this bill? None of those provisions create jobs.

HR 1633 – Farm Dust Regulation Prevention Act of 2011: This bill prevents the EPA from issuing or finalizing regulations revising air quality standards under the Clean Air Act, and excepts farm dust from all references to “particulate matter.” No jobs there.

HR 10 – Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act of 2011: Guts the regulation process by mandating that every regulation promulgated be approved by Congress after an onerous submission process, while exempting any Congressional finding from judicial review. Call this one the Carte Blanche For Congress To Kill All Regulatory Authority Bill. No jobs created by this bill.

HR 3010 – Regulatory Accountability Act of 2011: This is a modified, somewhat less onerous version of HR 10, setting guidelines for whether any regulations are warranted at all even if called for under a statute. Calling an anti-regulatory statute a jobs bill is a little like calling a half-built bridge infrastructure. So again, not a jobs bill.

HR 527 – Regulatory Flexibility Improvements Act of 2011: This bill would reduce regulatory requirements on small businesses by forcing an impact study with specific focus on small business before regulation is adopted. It would limit EPA, OSHA and CFPB regulations while presumably protecting “small” closely-held Subchapter S corporations like Koch Industries. Not a jobs bill.

HR 3012 – Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act of 2011: This bill would expand job immigration beyond current limits by eliminating employment-based immigrant visa caps and raising the percentage of total visas granted to 15% from 7%. For this one, I’ll say it IS a jobs bill, but not a jobs bill for American workers. It is the “Elite Immigration Jobs Bill of 2011”.

HR 3094 – Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act: This bill redefines collective bargaining units and makes significant changes to election procedures, including one intended to intimidate employees: an employer-supplied list of eligible voters with contact information provided by the employee. Not a jobs bill. A union-buster bill.

HR 2930 – Entrepreneur Access to Capital Act:This bill exempts startups raising less than $1 million in venture capital from small investors from SEC registration and oversight. Not a jobs bill. An anti-regulatory bill.

HR 2940 – Access to Capital for Job Creators Act: This bill repeals prohibitions on solicitation or advertising of a securities offering. It’s a companion to HR 2930, and is intended to allow people with no relationship to a startup company to invest in it without any oversight by the SEC. Let’s call this and its evil twins HR 2930 and HR 1965 the “Ponzi Scheme Coverup Acts of 2011”

HR 1965 – Securities Laws Amendment: This bill changes the shareholder threshhold for SEC registration from 500 to 2000 shareholders. It’s not a jobs bill. It’s a “hide from the SEC” bill. Its companion, HR 1970, would exempt SEC registration of public offerings under $50 million rather than the current $5 million threshold.

Many More EPA Acts: So many they don’t deserve to be broken down individually. HR 2273 removes coal ash regulation from the EPA and hands it to the states. HR 2681 would put a legislative stay on cement manufacturing emission standards. HR 2250 would put a legislative stay on EPA boiler MACT rules. HR 2401 would require analysis of all EPA regulations relating to air, waste, water and climate change. HR 2018 would restrict EPA from issuing any revisions to existing water standards or issuing a new standard for a pollutant if the state has already adopted one or there is an existing standard in place. In other words, ignore any new scientific research after an initial standard has been set. HR 2021 amends the Clean Air Act to open oil and gas exploration off the Alaska coast. HR 910 strips the EPA of authority to regulate greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act, a direct assault on efforts to limit man-made contributions to climate change. HR 872 expands the use of pesticides, fungicides and rodent without EPA approval. Not a job created in any of these bills.

Many More Oil and Gas Drilling Acts: There is HR 1231, which would require the Administration to allow offshore oil and gas drilling and exploration in order to meet set domestic production goals, effectively forcing the moratorium on offshore drilling to be lifted to meet goals. HR 1229 requires the Energy Secretary to consider any offshore drilling permits within 30 days of receiving it and provide application denials in writing within 60 days of the application. Another “forced moratorium lift” bill. HR 1230 forces sales of oil leases in the Gulf of Mexico and Outer Continental Shelf of Virginia. It also lifts requirements for environmental impact statements and grandfathers in a 2007 document as authority for environmental impact. No new jobs created here either.

Special Interest Legislation, or Pandering to Corporate Interests

HR 1904 proposes an exchange of land so that Resolution Copper, LLC can mine copper on what is now part of the Tonto National Forest.
HJ Res 37 is a resolution of disapproval on net neutrality.
HR 2587 prohibits the NLRB from restricting where an employer can locate. This is in response to the NLRB’s objection to the Boeing plant relocation to South Carolina, a right-to-work state.

These would fall under the anti-labor, anti-environment categories, but not particularly effective job creators. In fact, in Boeing’s case, the jobs lost would hurt the economy more than jobs created in a right-to-work state where employers are not obligated to adhere to industry standards on contracts, safety or other issues.

Republicans passing jobs bills? Nope. Just more GOP lies.

As we have said here before, sometimes you simply cannot say something better than somebody else already has. Today is one of those days when we demonstrate what that means. Republicans fear that the government has too much control over corporations. Democrats fear that corporations have too much control over our government.

Democrats believe it benefits all of us to help the weakest and the poorest among us. Republicans believe it benefits all of us to help the wealthiest and most powerful among us.

Republicans believe large corporations will always do what is best for the American people if the government stays out of the way. Democrats believe large corporations would disembowel you and sell your organs to the highest bidder if the government didn’t stop them.

Democrats believe the President and Congress need to work together to create jobs during a weak economy. Republicans believe that Congress should do nothing to create jobs and then blame the President.

Democrats believe that corporate polluters should be made to pay for the cleanup of their pollution. Republicans believe that making corporations clean up their pollution is burdensome over-regulation.

Democrats believe our health care system exists solely for the purpose of making people healthy. Republicans believe our health care system exists solely for the purpose of making a healthy profit.

Democrats believe Congress should be of the people, by the people and for the people. Republicans believe corporations are the people.

Democrats believe that corporations have too much influence over Congress due to their lobbyists and huge campaign contributions. Republicans believe the middle class has too much influence over Congress due to their voting and paying taxes.

Democrats believe we need to protect victims of corporate negligence by allowing Americans to file lawsuits against corporations. Republicans believe we need to protect large corporations from lawsuits by Americans who’ve been victimized by them.

Democrats believe that the rich should be taxed more than the poor and middle class. Republicans believe that the rich should be allowed to keep all their wealth, except for the millions in campaign contributions they give to politicians.

Democrats believe that too much money in politics produces corruption and destroys the American way of life. Republicans believe that money and corruption in politics are the American way of life.

Fox News’ Sean Hannity Exposed As Liar By MSNBC’s Ed Schultz

Earlier this week, Fox News’ Republican Cheerleader-in-Chief, Sean Hannity stated on air, “I know the President will say ‘we got bin Laden” but putting that aside, it wouldn’t have happened if he (President Obama) had his way and I think that can be proven as well on tapes.”

Of course Hannity did not (and has not since) produced any tapes which corroborate his allegation that President Obama either did not desire to eliminate Osama bin Laden or took any action to discourage or prevent the elimination of the terrorist. You see, this is how Sean Hannity and most of his Fox News cronies operate. They make outrageous statements and seldom back any of them up with actual facts. Such is the case here.

Here are some tapes in fact which completely dispel Hannity’s spurious lie:

First we have a tape of Barack Obama on October 7, 2008 saying, “If we have Osama bin Laden in our sites and the Pakistani government is unable or unwilling to take him out, then I think that we have to act and we will take them out. We will kill bin Laden. We will crush al -Qaeda. That has to be our biggest national security priority.”

Of course, as we all know, President Obama successfully followed through on his promise to eliminate Osama bin Laden and in a televised interview on CBS’ “60 Minutes” shortly thereafter, Defense Secretary Robert Gates gave much credit for the mission to the President. He said, “I believe, and I’ve worked for a lot of these guys (U.S. Presidents) and this is one of the most courageous calls, decisions that i think I’ve ever seen a President make…It was a very gutsy call…This is a man who is not afraid to make a tough decision and I have seen him make a number.”

Mitt(wit) Romney Is One Of The Beautiful People

Think about this for a moment. Could Mitt Romney possibly do any better a job at convincing the American people that he is a filthy rich, privileged, out of touch, heartless and deceiving candidate for President of the United States?

Setting aside for the moment his countless flip-flops on policy issues and the fact that he is now Donald Trump’s BFF, let’s take a close look at some of the facts about this Republican and also at some of the things that he has actually said.

Mitt Romney is one of the richest men in the country. Despite the fact that he has wealth to spare however, as the result of an unfair tax code, he pays less than 14% tax on his earnings. Indeed while earning $ 21.7 million in 2010, Romney paid a lower tax rate than a person earning only $ 50,000 in wages per year. To make matters worse, Romney’s proposed tax overhaul would maintain this preposterously low rate for the wealthy while penalizing people earning $ 40,000 or less per year.

Romney is so out of touch with human emotion that he once strapped the family dog to the roof of his car for a 12 hour drive from Boston to Ontario, Canada. During the trip, The Boston Globe reported, Romney’s oldest son, Tagg, looked around through the rear window and yelled, “Dad — gross!” A brown liquid was dripping down the back window — diarrhea from an animal that just might have been caused by the stress of being inside a cage for 12 hours on top of a car going 60 mph. The Globe described what Romney then did as follows: “As the rest of the boys joined in the howls of disgust, Romney coolly pulled off the highway and into a service station. There he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car, then hopped back onto the highway. It was a tiny preview of a trait he would grow famous for in business: emotion-free crisis management.” How is that for loving treatment of a beloved family pet?

Let’s now take a look at some of the things Mitt Romney has said:

“I saw my father march with Martin Luther King.” (Romney’s campaign later admitted that they didn’t march on the same day, or in the same city;

“I purchased a gun when I was a young man. I’ve been a hunter pretty much all my life.” (Romney’s campaign later said he’d been hunting twice, once when he was 15, and once in 2006 at a Republican fundraiser;

“Corporations are people, my friend… of course they are.”;

“I like being able to fire people who provide services to me.”;

“I should tell my story. I’m also unemployed.” —Mitt Romney, speaking in 2011 to unemployed people in Florida. Romney’s net worth is over $200 million;

“There were a couple of times I wondered whether I was going to get a pink slip” –Mitt Romney, attempting to identify with the problems of average folk (January 2012);

“I’m running for office for Pete’s sake, we can’t have illegals” –Mitt Romney, recalling his reaction when he learned that there were illegal aliens working the ground on his property, employed by a firm that he subsequently fired (October 2011);

“[Obama’s stimulus program is] one of the biggest peacetime spending binges in American history.” —Mitt Romney in April 2011, while U.S. troops were fighting wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and involved in airstrikes against Libya;

“I believe in an America where millions of Americans believe in an America that’s the America millions of Americans believe in. That’s the America I love.” –Mitt Romney (January 2012); and most recently

“I’m not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there.” —Mitt Romney (January 2012).

Face it folks, Mitt Romney is not only a filthy rich, privileged, out of touch, heartless and deceiving candidate for President of the United States, he is also unquestionably unfit to be the President of the United States.

The Free-Fall Of Ron Paul

How fortunate that wacky Republican Ron Paul announced his candidacy for the 2012 presidency on a Friday the 13th. He now has a ready-made excuse for why his campaign was such an abysmal failure. Despite what the pundits constantly refer to as Paul’s fervently devoted group of grassroots supporters and Tea Party nut-jobs, nobody seems to ever vote for this guy. In Iowa he garnered a respectable 21% of the vote but finished only third. In the New Hampshire primary election, his percentage of the vote plateaued at 22% and in South Carolina his support dropped to 13%. It remains to be seen how low his support will drop today in the Florida primary election.

We knew that, as always, Ron Paul’s candidacy would go nowhere. He is after all, a radical crazy person. If you need evidence of Ron Paul’s zaniness, consider these tidbits:

– He is known as “Dr. No” because of his insistence that he will “never vote for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution;

– He advocates withdrawal from the United Nations, and from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO);

– He opposes birthright citizenship;

– He advocates for the elimination of the Federal Reserve;

– He would deny women their right of freedom of choice in birth;

– He believes that the civil Rights act of 1964 is unconstitutional; and

– He would rather have sick people die from their illnesses than receive government provided health care.

Now let’s take a look at some of Ron Paul’s quotes as published in his newsletters:

– “Boy, it sure burns me to have a national holiday for that pro-communist philanderer Martin Luther King. I voted against this outrage time and time again as a Congressman. What an infamy that Ronald Reagan approved it! We can thank him for our annual Hate Whitey Day.”;

– “even in my little town of Lake Jackson, Texas, I’ve urged everyone in my family to know how to use a gun in self defense. For the animals are coming.”;

– “opinion polls consistently show only about 5% of blacks have sensible political opinions”;

– “if you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be.”; and

– “hip-hop thing to do among the urban youth who play unsuspecting whites like pianos.” (referring to the crime of carjacking).

This is scary stuff. Is it any wonder that this man is never taken very seriously by the majority of Americans?

Nevertheless, Ron Paul does have the capacity to do some good for his country. He demonstrated that this last autumn when he decided not to seek re-election to his Texas House of Representatives seat. Consequently, there is certain to be one less radical insane person in the next Congress. Also, there is always the possibility that as soon as Paul realizes that he has no chance of capturing the Republican nomination, he may decide to run as either an Independent or a third party candidate. He would still have absolutely no chance of being elected, but he would steal a certain percentage of votes form the Republican nominee (Mitt Romney or Newt Gingrich) thereby helping Barack Obama to win the general election.

Is Romney Dishonest, Stupid or Both?

Mitt Romney is a man who is accustomed to having it both ways. He has flip-flopped on issue positions such as abortion, gun rights, immigration and personal mandates for health insurance so frequently that nobody knows what he believes. He is also one of the very privileged top 1% of this nation’s wealth hierarchy who makes substantially more money than 99% of Americans while he pays a tax rate commensurate with someone who earns less than $ 50,000 per year. Mitt(wit) Romney is truly a two-way street.

We got another dose of “Double-Talk Mitt” during last night’s Republican debate in Florida. Moderator Wolf Blitzer asked Romney, “You’ve had an ad running saying that Speaker Gingrich called Spanish – quote – ‘The language of the ghetto.’ What do you mean by that?”

Romney’s answer was one of the most confusing, convoluted, non-responsive bits of gibberish that we have heard in a long time. He said,

“I haven’t seen the ad, so I’m sorry, I don’t get to see all the TV ads. Did he say that? Did you say that? I doubt that’s my ad, but we’ll take a look and find out…Let me ask the speaker a question. Did you say what the ad says or not? I don’t know.”

Unfortunately for Romney, he was not given the opportunity to “take a look and find out”. Blitzer immediately performed a fact-check and informed Romney that “We did double check. It is one of your ads. it’s running here in Florida on the radio and at the end you say (in Spanish) ‘I’m Mitt Romney and I approve this message'”. The crowd then immediately burst into a loud round of “booing” Mitt Romney.

Is Mitt Romney dishonest, stupid or both? Did he intentionally mislead the debate audience when he said, “I doubt that’s my ad”? This seems plausible inasmuch as he obviously took the time to learn how to say in Spanish, “I’m Mitt Romney and I approve this message”. He also had that approval inserted at the end of the ad. Maybe Mitt Romney is just stupid however. Perhaps he agreed to placing his stamp of approval on an ad which he never even took the time to review beforehand. Maybe Romney just has a very poor memory and could not recall producing the ad in question. Whatever the true answer may be, it does not reflect kindly upon a man who wants to be President of the United States of America. Our nation deserves much more from our Chief Executive.

Obama Flies While Mitch Daniels Lies

As everybody knows, President Barack Obama delivered his third State of the Union Address last night. The speech consisted of a mixing of his administration’s accomplishments, its upcoming priorities, his direct challenge to Congress to get things done and his assurance that America is continuing to recover from its economic woes and will thrive as the result of his proposed policies.

The address opened with Obama describing the heroic efforts of the Navy Seals carrying forth his command to enter Pakistan and neutralize 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden. He said, “For the first time in two decades, Osama bin Laden is not a threat to this country.” He followed that by re-capping a long list of his policies such as health care reform, Wall Street reform, tax breaks to the working/middle class, the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Agency, the saving of the automotive industry , the job-creating stimulus plan. He backed up his accomplishments by stressing the undeniable facts that the economy has added nearly 3.2 million private-sector jobs over the last 22 months, and American manufacturing is creating jobs for the first time since the late 1990s and that the American auto industry has added 100,000 jobs in the last year, and U.S. oil production is at the highest level in eight years.

Obama then moved on to a list of priorities to be tackled next. He proposed more clean energy development and the creation of a China Task Force to combat trade violations. He also proposed individual tax relief to the working/middle class while allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire for the wealthy who have profited most in the last several years. He repeated his longstanding call for the wealth to pay more in taxes, including a specific proposal for millionaires to have a tax rate of 30%. He proposed an administrative order to mortgage lenders to ease restrictions which would allow homeowners to refinance at today’s historically low interest rates and he called for enhanced education and job training initiatives.

Obama then placed pressure directly on the Republican controlled House of Representatives. He informed Americans that Congressional obstructionism was preventing an economic recovery by means of blocking his initiatives. He adamantly stated, “I intend to fight obstruction with action, and I will oppose any effort to return to the very same policies that brought on this economic crisis in the first place.” With regard to extending the payroll tax cut for wage earners, Obama defiantly said, “Let’s agree right here, right now: No side issues. No drama. Pass the payroll tax cut without delay.”

He stole the thunder of Republicans by calling for lower corporate taxes but only for those businesses that bring jobs back to the United States. He called for ending tax subsidies to those businesses which continue to outsource jobs. He said, “Tonight, my message to business leaders is simple: Ask yourselves what you can do to bring jobs back to your country, and our country will do everything we can to help you succeed,” He also said that every multinational company should pay a basic minimum tax, while giving American manufacturers a tax cut. He challenged Congress to send him a bill which accomplishes those things right away so that he can quickly sign it into law.

He also challenged Congress to act on comprehensive immigration reform, a major election-year issue for the important Hispanic-American vote. Short of a major overhaul, he called for legislation like the DREAM Act that provides children of illegal immigrants who go to college or serve in the military a path to possible citizenship. Again, he told Congress to send him a bill which accomplishes those things right away so that he can quickly sign it into law.

Obama went so far as to say that if Congress is unable or unwilling to advance his initiatives, he will not sit still. He said, “With or without this Congress, I will keep taking actions that help the economy grow.” He announced that via executive order, the Defense Department will make history’s largest renewable energy purchase — totaling 1 gigawatt. He also announced that his administration is announcing the opening of new off-shore oil fields.

Obama concluded by saying, “The nation is great because we get each other’s backs. And if we hold fast to that truth, in this moment of trial, there is no challenge too great, no mission too hard. As long as we’re joined in common purpose, as long as we maintain our common resolve, our journey moves forward, our future is hopeful, and the state of our Union will always be strong.”

In contrast to the President’s fact-laden address, the Republican rebuttal was (as usual) comprised of misinformation, deception, a lack of any specific proposals and at least one pure and outright lies. The rebuttal was delivered by Indiana governor Mitch Daniels in an empty museum building which was symbolic of his statement’s empty rhetoric. Daniels was somewhat of an odd choice for the GOP inasmuch as Indiana’s unemployment rate has climbed higher than the national average. His opposition to the auto rescue could have cost Indiana more than 147,000 jobs and he has completely flip-flopped on right-to-work legislation.

Daniels opened with a whopper of a lie. he said, “The President did not cause the economic and fiscal crises that continue in America tonight. But he was elected on a promise to fix them, and he cannot claim that the last three years have made things anything but worse.” The truth is that for the last several months prior to Obama’s election, the economy was losing between 600,000 and 800,00 jobs per month. Indeed, U.S. nonfarm employment stood at just more than 137 million jobs in July 2008, before the already-under-way recession turned into a nosedive following that September’s financial crisis. By January, when Obama took office, the figure had fallen to about 133.5 million — a loss of about 3.5 million jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and an additional 4.3 million jobs were lost before Obama’s stimulus policies took hold in February 2010. From that date onward however, the economy has added (not lost) jobs for 23 out of the last 24 months. Since that job growth resumed, the economy has added about 3 million jobs. Additionally, The gross domestic product, the prime measure of economic strength, shrank by a severe 6.8 percent annual rate before Obama became president. The declines eased after he took office and economic growth, however modest, has resumed. Also, the recession officially ended six months into Obama’s presidency. The facts prove that there is no denying that the economy has improved under Obama.

Daniels lied yet again when he said “The late Steve Jobs – what a fitting name he had – created more of them than all those stimulus dollars the President borrowed and blew.” The truth is that Apple employs only about 60,000 workers, according to its filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. As just stated above, the Bureau of Labor Statistics confirms that since the Stimulus policies came into full effect, the economy has added about 3 million jobs.

The Republicans’ alternative plan for economic recovery was explained by Daniels as follows: “So 2012 is a year of true opportunity, maybe our last, to restore an America of hope and upward mobility, and greater equality. The challenges aren’t matters of ideology, or party preference; the problems are simply mathematical, and the answers are purely practical.” Did Daniels go on to define or explain exactly what he characterized as these “mathematical problems”? Nope! Did he define or explain the Republicans’ “purely practical” solutions? Nope! Nada! Nothing! Not even one single specific policy proposal.

Bottom line: Obama soared last night while Daniels and the Republicans took a nose dive.
