Fox News’ Sean Hannity Exposed As Liar By MSNBC’s Ed Schultz

Earlier this week, Fox News’ Republican Cheerleader-in-Chief, Sean Hannity stated on air, “I know the President will say ‘we got bin Laden” but putting that aside, it wouldn’t have happened if he (President Obama) had his way and I think that can be proven as well on tapes.”

Of course Hannity did not (and has not since) produced any tapes which corroborate his allegation that President Obama either did not desire to eliminate Osama bin Laden or took any action to discourage or prevent the elimination of the terrorist. You see, this is how Sean Hannity and most of his Fox News cronies operate. They make outrageous statements and seldom back any of them up with actual facts. Such is the case here.

Here are some tapes in fact which completely dispel Hannity’s spurious lie:

First we have a tape of Barack Obama on October 7, 2008 saying, “If we have Osama bin Laden in our sites and the Pakistani government is unable or unwilling to take him out, then I think that we have to act and we will take them out. We will kill bin Laden. We will crush al -Qaeda. That has to be our biggest national security priority.”

Of course, as we all know, President Obama successfully followed through on his promise to eliminate Osama bin Laden and in a televised interview on CBS’ “60 Minutes” shortly thereafter, Defense Secretary Robert Gates gave  much credit for the mission to the President. He said, “I believe, and I’ve worked for a lot of these guys (U.S. Presidents) and this is one of the most courageous calls, decisions that i think I’ve ever seen a President make…It was a very gutsy call…This is a man who is not afraid to make a tough decision and I have seen him make a number.”

If those tapes are not enough to contradict Sean Hannity and expose him as a liar, MSNBC’s Ed Schultz finished the job. Please click on the following link to view Schultz calling Hannity to task:  http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/201202080019

HANNITY IN THE DARK

(sung to the Chicago song “Saturday In The Park”)

Hannity in the dark
You’d think that he would open his eyes
Hannity in the dark
It’s rhetoric that the reich wing buys
Keeps us barfing, keeps us laughing
The man is a lame-brain
G.O.P. talking points
Ixnay on the truthiness
Do you dig it? (no, we don’t)
And he’s been at it such a long time
Sean Hannity

Hannity in the dark
You’d think that he would open his eyes
Hannity in the dark
It’s rhetoric that the reich wing buys
His tough talking, while he’s smiling
Scared of waterboarding
Chicken-hawk with gall
Olbermann exposed the fool
Can you dig it? (yes, we can)
And Alan Colmes was such a nice guy
Yesterday

Slow thinking dropout without a college degree
A bought man just can shill for the G.O.P.
Fox News execs know they’re his boss
Know they’re his boss (oh, yeah, yeah)

In a daze, in the dark
Every day’s a day full of lies
In a haze, off the mark
He’s just like Limbaugh in disguise
Embellishing and misleading
An abomination
Like the Berlin Wall
An idiot, pitching a fit
Can you dig it? (no, we can’t)
And he’s been at it such a long time

Limbaugh’s Lies Exposed By Ed Schultz

Another bevy of Rush Limbaugh lies was exposed yesterday. MSNBC host Ed Schultz played a portion of Limbaugh’s radio show during which the drug-addled racist alleged that “ignorant and uninformed voters” elected President Obama. Limbaugh went on to say that Democrats were trying to dumb-down students in school to brainwash them. He continued by saying “anyone who cares about the country and is informed would not vote for Obama” and “the uninformed voter is a target Democrat Party audience.”

Ed Schultz however, would have none of it. On the segment of his nightly television program titled “Psychotalk”, Schultz exposed Limbaugh’s lies. He started by showing that it is the Republicans who actually attempt to dumb-down students. He provided the example of Texas Republicans who fought to change social studies text books to be more conservative and to omit certain progressive policies and ideals of Thomas Jefferson and other important figures.

Schultz also showed that misinformation is “actually the cornerstone of Republican election strategy.” As an example, he cited the recent Fairleigh Dickinson University study which stated, “Some [media] outlets, especially Fox News, lead people to be even less informed than those who say they don’t watch any news at all.” he then played video clips of Fox News’ Megyn Kelly saying that pepper spray “is a food product” and Sean Hannity claiming that the new health care law contains “death panels.” Most enlightening of all however, was a clip of Fox News’ Gretchen Carlson discussing a theory that “aliens could kill us” if earth does not stop global warming!

Schultz concluded by saying that Fox News viewers are the most uninformed and studies have revealed that 78% of those viewers are Republicans. Consequently, he showed that it is, in fact, the Republican voters who are uninformed.

This should not be news to any of us. Just last week we posted this Fox News chart which suggests that November 2011′s 8.6% unemployment rate is actually higher than the February 2011 8.9% rate and the March 2011 8.8% rate.

It is also informative to note that the non-partisan fact-checking organization known as PolitiFact.com provided this partial list of Fox News misinformation:

Hark The Herald Angels Sing song link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbdvo019mgM

HARK, THE DITTO-HEADS DO SING

(sung to the Amy Grant version of “Hark The Herald Angels Sing”)

Hark, the ditto-heads do sing
“Glory to Limbaugh our King!”
On the left he is reviled
Cuz he behaves like a child
On those islands where he flies
With Viagra he does rise
His tired old act is just a game
Intended to bring him fame
Hark, the ditto-heads do sing
“Glory to Limbaugh our King!”

When Rush speaks he only lies
Unlike Beck he does not cry
Rush has an expansive girth
He is shaped like planet earth
Former wives have numbered three
He prefers his Oxy-C
Right-wing drivel he does sell
From his brainless empty shell
Hark, the ditto-heads do sing
“Glory to Limbaugh our King!”

(Viagra-chomping break)

He calls his show the E.I.B.
It’s all about me, me, me
Of his fame, he often sings
While taking credit for all things
Yet, by most he is ignored
Like a little mouse that roared
With nothing beneath his dome
He emits a rabid foam
Hark, the ditto-heads do sing
“Glory to Limbaugh our King!”

Sunday Morning Coffee (or Tea) – 80

Just a few newsworthy items (and comments thereon) that have been making their way through the political universe this past week but may have escaped your attention. Please ponder and maybe chuckle a bit before enjoying a wonderful day during this unofficial first-weekend of summer!

BREAKING NEWS: This week’s episode of “You Gotta Love It” features The St. Paul Pioneer Press. Tim Pawlenty‘s hometown newspaper printed the the former Minnesota Governor’s announcement to run as a Republican presidential candidate on its obituary page.

THIS JUST IN: Wisconsin state officials have scheduled the first recall elections of state Republican lawmakers for July 12. That day, voters will decide whether to recall three GOP lawmakers who supported Gov. Scott Walker’s bill to curb the collective bargaining rights of state workers.

BREAKING NEWS:  The next time that some Teapublican tells you that President Barack Obama has thrown Israel under the bus for suggesting a two state solution “based on” 1967 borders “with mutually agreed swaps”, please remind them to stifle their outrage inasmuch as President George W. Bush suggested the same thing in 2005. Where was all the shock then?

THIS JUST IN: Quote of the week: “In 2009 I had the sense if she made it to the White House and I had stayed silent, I could never forgive myself,” – Author and former Sarah Palin staffer Frank Bailey commenting to the Associated Press.

BREAKING NEWS:  Remember back during the 1988 presidential election season when Republicans seized upon furloughed criminal and recidivist Willie Horton as a means to attack Democratic nominee, Michael Dukakis? Well it looks like 2012 Republican presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty now has his own Willie Horton to worry about. You see, two years ago Pawlenty pardoned and wiped clean the criminal record of Jeremy Geifer, who had been convicted for having sex with a 14 year old girl. Well, it turns out that Geifer sought to have his record cleared so that his wife could open a day care center. Turns out, Geifer has now been accused of molesting his own daughter.

THIS JUST IN:  This week’s episode of “Don’t Mess With The Medicare” features Republican candidate Jane Corwin and Tea Party candidate Jack Davis. In the heavily Republican New York 26th District, those candidates lost to Democrat Kathy Hochul as the result of their unqualified support for Republican Paul Ryan’s plan to dismantle the popular Medicare program. Going forward, it will be interesting to see how many Republican candidates attempt to distance themselves from their party’s plan. It is a “lose/lose” situation for the GOP because those politicians who run from the plan will disrupt party unity while those that continue to support it will face voter backlash. This will be fun to watch.

BREAKING NEWS:  It was nice to see the US Senate hold a vote on Republican Paul Ryan‘s Medicare Destruction Act. The final vote was 57-40 against passage of the bill, mostly along party lines. Republicans who joined the majority Democrats in opposing the measure were Scott Brown of Massachusetts, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rand Paul of Kentucky, and Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine. Those GOP members that supported bill will now probably face massive voter backlash. Yipee!

THIS JUST IN:  For the sake of being, dare I say “fair and balanced”, we should note that not all vulgar hate speech comes from the right. Last week progressive talk radio and MSNBC television host Ed Schultz was rightfully suspended for referring to moonbat-crazy conservative radio host Laura Ingraham as a “right wing slut”. Schultz did the right by issuing an almost immediate apology but the fact remains that that type of language is hateful.

BREAKING NEWS:  Fox News Comment of the week. Headline: “CAIR: Bin laden More Like ‘Neo-Nazi, White Supremacist’”. Reader Comment:  “CAIR is another enemy within. All Americans need to take action against mus lims. Do not do business with them, do not hire them, do not allow them respect or equality. It is up to the people to rid ourselves of this social cancer.”

Fox On The Run song link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MDCbIhTa_w

FOX ON THE RUN

(sung to the Sweet song “Fox On The Run”)

Why is that network insane
No one there has a brain
So easy to abhor
Each day they add a new pretty face
But they’re losing in the gene pool race
They speak like sidewalk whores

Fox on the run
They scream and everybody starts a-running
Beck, Britt Hume and big Bill O’Reilly
Fox is on the run
F-foxy, Fox is on the run. They’ll fade away.

Koo-Koo, that is the Fox network brand
As “fair and balanced” as DisneyLand
So easy to ignore
News, that is so God damned lame
Should hide their heads in shame
And show their hosts the door

Fox on the run
They scream and everybody starts a-running
Beck, Britt Hume and big Bill O’Reilly
Fox is on the run
F-foxy, Fox is on the run. They’ll fade away.

(musical interlude)

F-foxy, Fox is on the run
They scream and think that we’re having fun
Take a run and hide yourself away
Fox is on the run
F-foxy, Fox is on the run. They’ll fade away.

Sunday Morning Coffee (or Tea) – 31

Just a few news bits that have been careening around the cosmos this past week.

BREAKING NEWS: Sarah Palin and the Tea-Baggers teamed up in Searchlight, Nevada yesterday to rally against the re-election efforts of Democratic Senator Harry Reid. For his part, Reid was nonplussed. He said he was “happy so many people came to see my hometown of Searchlight and spend their out-of-state money especially in these tough economic times. Ultimately, though, this election will be decided by Nevadans, not people from other states who parachute in for one day to have a tea party.”

THIS JUST IN: Speaking of Sarah Palin, the former ex-quitting Governor of Alaska is teaming up once again with John McCain. No, they have not announced that they will once again be running for the nation’s top office. This time Palin is campaigning for McCain in his bid for re-election to the Senate. This proves that John McCain is clinically insane. No sane person who was drowning would ask for someone to throw him an anchor.

BREAKING NEWS: TeaParty.org founder Dale Robertson brandished a sign with the (misspelled) word “niggar.” Listen, Tea-Baggers, if you insist upon being racists, at least be literate racists.

THIS JUST IN: What is it with Republicans and their obsession with having sex with animals? Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) primary challenger, former Arizona congressman J.D. Hayworth, warned this past weekend that the same-sex marriage decision handed down by the Massachusetts Supreme Court is so loose in its logic and wording that it could lead to a man marrying his horse.

BREAKING NEWS: A recent Harris Poll reveals that 14 percent of Americans say President Barack Obama may be the Antichrist. When split by political party, 24 percent of Republicans and 6 percent of Democrats viewed the nation’s leader in this way. Ok, I can understand the ignorant Republicans, but who are these 6 percent of Democrats?

THIS JUST IN: The Federal Elections Commission is investigating moonbat crazy Michele Bachmann yet again. How is it that this self described former “Tax Lawyer” cannot seem to add?

BREAKING NEWS: This week’s episode of “It’s About Time” features the mainstream media. This morning’s Boston Globe has finally printed an article which exposes the truth that Republicans want to hide. As we all know, since the passage of health care reform into law, every Republican has sought out the media outlet of his/her choice (generally Fox News) to rant about the unconstitutionality or outright illegality of the individual insurance mandate provision of the new law. The Globe reports the dirty secret however, that the G.O.P. was in favor of mandates before they were against them. Indeed, the whole idea of requiring individuals to purchase health insurance was floated by the uber-conservative Heritage Foundation in the 1990′s as a way to avoid a single payer system. The Globe also points out that two of the G.O.P.’s fiercest critics of the mandate, former Massachusetts Governor Mittwit Romney and recently elected nudist Senator Scott Brown, voted in favor of the mandate in MA and actually signed it into law back in 2006. The Boston Globe has revealed that the true basis for Republican opposition to health care reform is not the content of the law, but rather a blind obsession with opposing anything that the Obama administration hopes to accomplish regardless of merit. They have earned the moniker, “The Party of No”.

THIS JUST IN: Speaking of The Boston Globe and the clothing challenged Scott Brown, have you heard the latest? In an attempt to rake in dwindling out of state donations to his campaign coffer, Brown has recently shown up on many Fox News telecasts as well as on any nationally syndicated or local right wing radio programs to proclaim that he will be challenged in his re-election bid in 2012 by MSNBC host Rachel Maddow. This is news to Rachel Maddow. When she heard the rumor, she immediately declared on her television show that she would not be running for office. She also appeared as a guest on both Ed Schultz‘s radio and television programs to confirm the same. End to the rumor? Nope, Scott Brown continued to insist that Massachusetts resident Maddow would be the Democratic challenger to his seat. In an effort to quash the rumor and expose Brown’s lying ways, Maddow took out a full page ad in Friday’s edition of The Boston Globe. The ad ( a copy of which can be seen here) was a duplicate of the personal letter that she mailed to Brown. The citizens of Massachusetts are finally learning something about the dark side of the person that they just elected to fill Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat. Let’s hope they kick him out in 2012 regardless of the absence of Rachel Maddow.

BREAKING NEWS: This week’s edition of  “Alaskans, I Love You , But…” features the Boston College men’s hockey team. The Boston Globe reports this morning,

When it comes to the big stage, Boston College has a veteran presence. The Eagles brought their experience, talent, determination, and winning pedigree to the Northeast Regional semifinals at the DCU Center (in Worcester, MA) yesterday against an inexperienced Alaska-Fairbanks team that traveled more than 4,000 miles to compete in its first NCAA Tournament.

The Nanooks (18-12-9) showed remarkable poise and grit but the Eagles had more scoring touch and escaped with a 3-1 victory.

BC (26-10-3) improved to 11-0 all time in the first round of the NCAAs and will face Yale, a 3-2 winner over North Dakota.

As a tribute to the BC icemen, here are the Dropkick Murphy’s performing the Boston College fight song, “For Boston”.

BORN IN GOOD OLD AK

(sung to the Bruce Springsteen song, “Born In The U.S.A.”)

Born in an Idaho town
When my parents looked at me they could only frown
My dad he had a job that he sure did hate
So he loaded up the truck and we left the state

I wish I was…

(chorus)
Born in good old AK
Born in good old AK
Born in good old AK
Born in good old AK

We moved to the town of Wasilla
A bland place sort of like vanilla
I became a man killer
A temperament like Godzilla

Born in good old AK
Born in good old AK
Born in good old AK
Born in good old AK

I was soon running for the VP
John McCain said I was so “mavericky”
He bought me shoes and a real fine dress
Then he kicked me off the “Straight Talk Express”

Born in good old AK
Born in good old AK
Born in good old AK
Born in good old AK

I went back to state 49
Acted as if the whole place was mine
I did bitch, I did whine
Committed more than one ethics crime
I did the acts but I won’t serve the time

Up on the North Slope where the oil does flow
I cut some deals oughta make me some dough
Then I think I’ll write a book
You can make a lot of dough when you’re a crook

Born in good old AK
Born in good old AK
Born in good old AK
I’m a lipstick wearin’ pig in the U.S.A.
Born in good old AK
I’m a pocket hockey momma in the U.S.A.
Born in good old AK
(fading)
