The Continuing Saga Of Sen. Scott Brown’s (R-MA) Refusal To Assist In The Apprehension Of A Child Molester

Scott Brown faces a lot of questions.

The Scott Brown childhood sexual molestation story continues to evolve on a near daily basis. Scott Brown ‘s reputation takes another hit as each day passes.

As mentioned in this blog on two separate posts last week, Teapublican Senator Scott Brown of Massachusetts injected himself into the spotlight last February when he issued a press release for his yet unreleased autobiography titled “Against All Odds: My Life of Hardship, Fast Breaks, and Second Chances”. That press release revealed for the first time that the clothing-challenged Brown had been a victim of childhood sexual abuse on at least three occasions and by two different deviants. Two of those molestations occurred at a Massachusetts summer camp and the other happened at an unidentified location. By including that bit of personal red meat in the pre-publication release, there is no denying that the revelation was intended to launch sales of his book.

Brown however, has steadfastly refused to identify his molester and has also refused to assist law enforcement agencies in investigating the matter. When asked by local television station WBZ, at the time of the book’s release, if he would pursue his alleged sexual abuser, Brown said, “I have more important things to do… he’s probably in his 70s today.” Massachusetts Cape and Islands District Attorney, Michael O’Keefe reports that Scott Brown told him he didn’t want to pursue the case.  By means of his investigation obstruction, Scott Brown has painted himself into a corner from which he may not be able to escape without a permanent unsightly stain on his moral character.

The Senator had every right to keep his sexual abuse to himself as a matter of personal privacy. Indeed, he recently admitted that until the release of his book, he never mentioned the molestation to anyone including his mother and wife. That was his prerogative, but as soon as Brown publicized the abuse in his memoir, the rules changed. The criminal allegations have now been made public by Brown and there are resultant ramifications and obligations which must be addressed. Scott Brown now has a moral duty to reveal the identity of his abuser if for no other reason than to prevent this sexual predator from hurting more children. It makes no difference that the criminal is “probably in his 70′s” because there are numerous examples of convicted sexual predators in that age range. Additionally, inasmuch as sex offenders tend to repeat their crimes, it was quite likely that an identification made by a victim with Brown’s stature would urge any other past victims to come forward.

That is precisely what has happened since Brown’s confession. Early last week an unidentified man came forward and claimed that he was molested at a Massachusetts summer camp (Camp Good News) where it has been confirmed that Brown also stayed. Indeed, this second victim said he came forward as the result of Brown’s disclosure. The difference between this victim and the clothing-challenged Senator however, is that this man had the guts and moral fortitude to assist law enforcement in its attempts to capture a child molester on the loose. In fact, the victim’s lawyer Mitchell Garabedian, said that his client would “fully cooperate” with any investigation because “he wants to make the world a safer place for children.”

Shortly after this new victim contacted law enforcement, we learned that the alleged molester Charles Devita, took his own life when he learned that he was being investigated. Brown has said that Devita was not his molester. If Devita was indeed a child abusing sexual deviant, then his reign of terror has ended and he will never violate a child again. The suicide occurred so quickly on the heels of the identification that it would appear that the person either felt that his capture was imminent or he suffered from an uncontrollable level of guilt. Since then, Garabedian has been contacted by two more brave men that claim to have been sexually molested at the camp by Devita as well as an additional brave man and woman who claim to have been molested at the camp by someone else. The investigation by law enforcement of that “someone else” is now under way and it is likely that if there is evidence of his guilt, that “someone else” will be brought to justice and another child molester will be prevented from re-offending.

All the while, Scott Brown continues to refuse to divulge the identity of his abuser to law enforcement agencies while maintaining that his molester was not Devita. This means that Brown continues to enable his molester to roam freely with the potential to defile again. Brown appeared on Boston radio host Howie Carr’s program on WRKO AM 680 last Wednesday and was confronted by the host regarding Brown’s refusal to assist in bringing a potentially dangerous child molester to justice.

Carr asked the following question: Isn’t it important for you to come out and name or at least cooperate?

Brown responded: Howie, nobody has asked me to do anything.

Carr then said: But, can we agree that pedophiles don’t usually stop committing these crimes?

Brown responded: Historically that’s accurate, yeah.

Carr then followed with: So, isn’t it the best move to inform the authorities who molested you?

Brown responded: Howie, I have no evidence that the person who did it to me 42 years ago is no. 1 even alive and no. 2 is doing it again…If I had any … inclination whatsoever I certainly would do anything… but once again, I’m moving forward in my own way…

Carr followed-up with:  …So, O’Keefe (Cape and Islands District Attorney) has not spoken to you. Is that what you are saying?

Brown said:  I’m not gonna talk to you about it anymore because it’s really nothing to do with what I’m doing on Capitol Hill right now.

Carr then put Brown on the spot again by saying:  OK, one last question. You don’t feel any guilt about what happened this morning (i.e. the alleged suspect’s suicide)?

Brown then selfishly answered:  … I’m a victim Howie, so I felt guilty long enough…

Carr:  But there could be other victims.

Brown’s non-answer:  If that’s the case. If me and the young man who came forward have given other people the strength to move forward and come out and talk about it, then it’s great.

Here is the audio link of the Carr/Brown interview. The juicy stuff starts at the 1:45 minute mark:  http://audio.wrko.com/a/39260794/senator-scott-brown.htm

Things are coming to a head as more and more brave and selfless victims from Camp Good hope emerge and what they can to help apprehend roaming child sex offenders. Brown’s continued obstruction is inexcusable. It is morally abhorrent for him to profit by means of publicizing his own childhood sexual molestation and then to claim that he wants to keep the identity of the perpetrator a private matter. His book made this a public matter, and victims may be mounting as Scott Brown selfishly protects a child molester by refusing to identify him. These six unheralded abuse victims did the brave thing and not only came forward, but assisted in bringing at least two child molester to justice. In the meantime, Scott Brown cowardly sits on the sidelines counting his book sale royalties while another unidentified child molester may remain on the prowl.

As I have now posted repeatedly, Scott Brown will need more than the Tea Party to win re-election in 2012. Massachusetts Republicans and Democrats may disagree on many issues, but protecting sexual offenders is not one of them.

UPDATE:

The Boston Globe reports today that an additional eight brave alleged sexual molestation victims from Camp Good Hope have come forward bringing the total number of potential victims to thirteeen. The thirteen victims have identified “less than five” alleged child molesters. When asked whether an identification by Scott Brown of his alleged molester would be of some assistance,  Attorney Mitchell Garabedian said, ““Would it help if he named the molester? Sure’’. Well Scott, we are waiting.

Please take at a look at my WRKO Boston talk radio-based blog also, too. It can be found here: Kevin’s Blog-A Liberal Dose of Reality.

SCOTT BROWN

(sung to the Petula Clark song “Downtown”)

If Mass. is your home
And you are full of baloney,
You must surely be – Scott Brown
You have your worries,
With no clothes in snow flurries
You’re a nudist boy – Scott Brown

You’re popular in the woods but were voteless in the city
Your term is only two years Scott, and isn’t that a pity?
You’re sure to lose

You’ve got some Mitt Romney hair
But it grows down on your buttocks, we’ve seen when you’re bare, and so
Scott Brown – politics of hate when you’re
Scott Brown – voted right out the door
Scott Brown – private life’s waiting for you
(Scott Brown, Scott Brown)

Don’t wear a frown
As the Tea-Baggers surround you
They are friends not foes – Scott Brown
The “Party of No”
Is just the place that they go to
Where their hatred grows – Scott Brown

Just charm them with the rhythm of your naked bossanova
They’ll be bare-assed with you too before the night is over
Happy again

They’ll take off their underwear
Then they’ll forget all their troubles, forget all their cares like you,
Scott Brown – not erudite or bright
Scott Brown – every nudist’s delight
Scott Brown – you’re gonna be alright now
(Scott Brown, Scott Brown, Scott brown)

(Scott Brown, Scott Brown)

And you might find that your behind will help ingratiate you
With Larry Craig who loves the view and has a gentle hand to
Guide you along

And maybe you’ll see him bare
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares dear bro
Scott Brown – get right down on all fours
Scott Brown – don’t wait a minute more
Scott Brown – Larry Craig’s waiting for you

Scott Brown (Scott Brown) Scott Brown (Scott Brown)
Scott Brown (Scott Brown) Scott Brown (Scott Brown)
(repeat and fade out)

Serial Philanderer Newt Gingrich Defends Philandering

Disgraced former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich was interviewed on air by Boston radio host Howie Carr of WRKO AM on Monday. During the interview Gingrich was asked how his marital infidelity might affect a potential bid for the White House. His response?

“I expect my opponents to go back 15, 20, 25 years and try to render an alternate judgment I understand that’s what they’ll do. I’m not blaming my life on anyone, and I’m not offering excuses. I’ve made no bones about the fact there were times I did the wrong thing, and I’ve made no bones about the fact that I’ve asked for forgiveness. I think most Americans are fair, and I think most Americans will look at the totality of my life.”

Gingrich, of course, is a serial philanderer. He has been married three times so far. In 1962, he married Jackie Battley, his former high school geometry teacher. In the spring of 1980, Gingrich left Battley after having an affair with Marianne Ginther. According to Battley, Gingrich visited her while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery to discuss divorce. Six months after the divorce was final, Gingrich wed Marianne Ginther in 1981. In the mid-1990s, Gingrich began an affair with House of Representatives staffer Callista Bisek, who is 23 years his junior. They continued their affair during the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal, when Gingrich was a leader of the Republican investigation of President Clinton for perjury in connection with his alleged affairs with Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky. In 2000, Gingrich married Bisek shortly after his divorce from second wife Ginther. He and Callista currently live in McLean, Virginia.

Lynnrockets believes that Newt Gingrich is in for some serious John Edwards treatment should he decide to run for President. He deserves it too!

YOU’RE A HAS-BEEN, NEWT GINGRICH

(sung to the Dr. Seuss song “The Grinch That Stole Christmas”)

You’re a has-been, Newt Gingrich
You’re lacking in appeal
Your were ousted as The Speaker
No one wants to hear you squeal
Newt Gingrich

You’re a unicycle
Without even one wheel

You’ve had three wives, Newt Gingrich
A mistress in the hole
Philandering’s your day job
You’re a slimy ugly troll
Newt Gingich

These woman that like you, must
Be on work-release or parole

You’re a vile one, Newt Gingrich
Your words reek with rancid bile
Your criticizing ol’ Bill Clinton
As you’re cheating all the while
Newt Gingrich

There couldn’t be a bigger hypocrite
Within a Midwest country mile

You’re a foul one, Newt Gingrich
Your first divorce smelled of skunk
Your wife, Jackie fighting cancer
You told her she was junk
Newt Gingrich

The nicest words to describe you,
Are, as follows, and I quote, Pink. Wank, Punk

You’re a coward, Newt Gingrich
Avoided your army spot
Deferment-seeking chicken-hawk
That likes to talk real tough
Newt Gingrich

Your soul is an appalling dump heap overflowing
With the most disgraceful assortment of Republican
Sound-bytes imaginable,
Mangled up in tangled up knots

You’re the racist, Newt Gingrich
It’s not Judge Sotomayor
You play the race card as a white guy
That’s so laughable I’m sure
Newt Gingrich

You’re a stinking pile of vomit
Sitting in the sun
With feces on top

Lynnrockets’ Presidents’ Day Perceptions

Boston Winter Twilight

Aside from the noteworthy Wisconsin labor protests, the GOP’s threat to shut down the government and the numerous worldwide uprisings, things have been pretty quiet in the political world of late. By that, we mean that there have not been any new salacious stories of Republican misconduct along the lines of John Boehner’s alleged affair with a lobbyist, Todd “First Dude” Palin’s alleged affair with a prostitute, Scott “Centerfold” Brown’s sex abuse or Christopher Lee’s topless Craigslist solicitations for the last few days. Things may heat-up soon however, as Congress takes its week long Presidents’ Day recess. After all, nothing prompts a “family values” conservative politician to participate in scandalous behavior moreso than time-off from work. By the way, why is it that Congress gets a week off for Presidents’ “DAY” while the rest of us are lucky to get the day off?

All that being said, Lynnrockets would like to take this slow news-day opportunity to bring you Rocketeers up to speed on what has been happening up here in Rocketland of late. If you are not out buying a new car, please pour your favorite warm beverage, kick your feet up and linger here a little while.

As I sit here early this morning watching a soft snow fall over the Boston skyline, I am reminded of the winters of my childhood. As I look back to my days as a young boy, I have a vision of winter as being a never-ending snow-filled holiday. My fond, but nostalgia-shaded memories of those late 1960′s/early 1970′s winters are of seasons of daily light snowfall which kept the street-lining snowbanks and drifts a marshmallow-like powdery white and not the black and soot covered glaciers of my adult years. Luckily, this winter season in Boston has reflected those halcyon days. We are on pace to have one of our snowiest seasons on record (global climate change at work?). Consequently, the glistening whiteness has been restored quite regularly. There have been many snow days and this generation of young children has restored my faith a bit as they have somehow torn themselves away from video-games to enjoy sledding and tubing like so many of those before them. Even my canine pal Marley (Weimaraner) seems to relish the endless opportunities to run along the snow-covered beach and bury her snout in her backyard drifts. As I glance out the window of my study this morning and see those slow-falling dime-sized flakes, I try to take a mental snap-shot of the type of New England winter that sometimes only lives in story-books and memories. Who knows how long it will be before we Bostonians are blessed with another season like this? In the meantime, this warm, nostalgic feeling is comforting.

Those of you that may have read this blog for sometime know that I am an avid sports fan. My favorite sport is hockey (that is ice hockey to you Southerners) yet my favorite sports franchise is football’s Green Bay Packers. I am thrilled that they have just won their 13th NFL championship, the most of any franchise. They are the Montreal Canadiens, New York Yankees (boy, I hate to mention them) and Boston Celtics of pro-sports. More impressive than their championships however, is the fact that they hail from the smallest city (pop. 102,313) of any pro-franchise in any sport and they are publicly owned by a group of regular working-class stiffs. There is no billionaire owner (ala Jerry Jones) simply using his vast wealth to buy championships for his team which he treats like a shiny toy. No, the Packers truly are the team of the people. They are the only authentic “America’s Team”. I am even more proud of the players and the franchise after they publicly sided with the rank and file union workers of Wisconsin last week. In a letter directed to union-busting Teapublican Governor, Scott Walker  they wrote,

We know that it is teamwork on and off the field that makes the Packers and Wisconsin great. As a publicly owned team we wouldn’t have been able to win the Super Bowl without the support of our fans.

It is the same dedication of our public workers every day that makes Wisconsin run. They are the teachers, nurses and child care workers who take care of us and our families. But now in an unprecedented political attack Governor Walker is trying to take away their right to have a voice and bargain at work.

The right to negotiate wages and benefits is a fundamental underpinning of our middle class. When workers join together it serves as a check on corporate power and helps ALL workers by raising community standards. Wisconsin’s long-standing tradition of allowing public sector workers to have a voice on the job has worked for the state since the 1930s. It has created greater consistency in the relationship between labor and management and a shared approach to public work.

These public workers are Wisconsin’s champions every single day, and we urge the governor and the State Legislature to not take away their rights.

Let’s hear it for the champions of both the playing-field and the working-class.

As for my favorite sport, it is this late winter period when things pick-up. Presently, my Boston Bruins are in first place in the Northeast Division of the NHL which secures them a third place seed in the Eastern Conference for the time being. This week they acquired highly skilled defenceman Tomas Kaberle from the Toronto Maple Leafs (aka “Make Believes”) in an attempt to gear-up for the playoffs. I can only hope that this move helps them avoid another devastating playoff loss this season. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from last year’s playoff loss to the hated Philadelphia Flyers after having had a 3-0 game advantage and a 3-0 lead in the seventh and deciding game. Yukk!

My former college team, the Bowdoin College Polar Bears have captured the fifth seed in the NESCAC (New England Small College Athletic Conference) playoffs with a 15-7-1 record. They are presently ranked 12th in the Division II/III national rankings. GO U BEARS! By the way, they are called the Polar Bears not because the school is way up north in Maine, but because the men that first traveled to the North Pole, Robert E. Peary (class of 1877) and Robert S. MacMillan (class of 1898) were Bowdoin graduates. It is also interesting to note that the college’s Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum is the only museum in the United States dedicated completely to Arctic Studies.

My old high-school hockey teams are thriving also. The St. Mary’s (Lynn, MA) Spartans boys hockey team captured the Division I Catholic Central League title with a record of 12-5-3. They are awaiting their seeding for the Division I state tournament which will be announced next Saturday. More impressive than that however is the girls team. The Lady Spartans finished the regular season in first place with a 17-0-3 record and the number one seed in the state tournament. Over the last number of seasons the team has compiled an undefeated streak of 96 games and counting. They have won four Division I state championships since 2005 including the last three in a row and are well on their way to another. Standout goaltender Sarah Foss was featured in Sports illustrated‘s “Faces In The Crowd” last week.

Now, back to Lynnrockets news. Some of you may remember that Lynnrockets won the contest to be the liberal blogger for Boston’s largest talk radio station, WRKO. Indeed, you Rocketeers were instrumental in securing the win by means of your Palinesque stuffing of the ballot box. Well, after a number of meetings with the station brass concerning employment and contract issues, I am pleased to announce that I will be appearing on the station’s website (WRKO.com) beginning on or around March 1, 2011. Please stop by on occasion to say hello. Do not worry, Blast-Off is not going anywhere. This blog will remain my blogging priority.

Lynnrockets wishes all of you a healthy Presidents’ Day! See you tonight or tomorrow with some political commentary as soon as something noteworthy happens.

I WRITE THE SONGS

(sung to the Barry Manilow song “I Write The Songs”)

I sling the jive whenever,
I sit down and scribble a song
I put the words and Republicans together
I love music,
And I love these songs

I write the songs that I hope you folks sing
I write the songs to dethrone G.O.P. kings
I write the songs that expose all their lies
I write the songs, I write the songs

I’m from a state that’s deep blue,
And we make a damned good lobster roll
No, there aren’t many right wing guys
There’s some but then, all of them are very old

I write the songs that attack the right wing
I write the songs that I hope linger and sting
I write the songs that prompt Glenn Beck to cry
I write the songs, I write the songs

Oh, I’ll take a hostile stance
When Limbaugh begins to rave and rant
And I’ll lead you to a poll, he can’t disprove
Palin has no heart,
So, I will tear her life apart
Hannity, Coulter too,
Also, too, O’Reilly
None of them can hide from me !!!

I write the songs about Mark Sanford’s flings
I write the songs about Larry Craig’s stings
I write the songs about Mark Foley’s guys
I write the songs, I write the songs

I write the songs about Joe Wilson’s slings
I write the songs of Vitter’s diapery things
I write the songs about all of those guys
I write the songs, I write the songs

I love music, so I write these songs

We Did It! Lynnrockets Wins!

We are happy to announce that Lynnrockets has won the WRKO “Next Great Political Blogger Contest”. Thanks to all of you supporters there will now be a liberal voice on Boston’s biggest conservative talk radio station starting in January. In light of the conservative host lineup and audience, I am expecting to be the target of much vitriol but I believe I am tough enough to be up to the task. After all, I can just keep reminding myself that they are the minority in this bluest city in the bluest state.

Lynnrockets’ Blast -Off is not going anywhere, however. It will still be my priority to put the same effort into this blog. The only difference will be that my voice will now be heard in more than one venue. If any of you are interested in seeing how things are going in radio-land, the AM 680 WRKO website is here.

Once again, I thank all of you for your votes and support. Now let’s get back to the blog.

Thanks Rocketeers !!! (and a Request For Help)

A New England Thanksgiving

Before enjoying this most social of American holidays with my loving (yet, sadly smaller) family, supportive friends and darling dog, Lynnrockets will take this opportunity to proclaim thanks for a few blog-related yet meaningful things.

To the authors of The Mudflats: Thank you for encouraging me to start this blog a year and a half ago. You endured my song parody comments for far too long before suggesting that I give blogging a whirl. Moreover, your technical assistance in getting me up and running was invaluable to this technology-challenged neophyte. Thank you so much. I encourage all of my readers (affectionately known as “Rocketeers”) to visit The Mudflats for some of the best “Inside Alaska” content on the internet tubes.

To the other like-minded bloggers that have linked to Lynnrockets’ Blast-Off: Thankfully this list has been growing faster than I could have imagined and all bloggers know that the “link” is the best way to broaden your scope of readership. The “Link List” is far too long to mention everyone, so I will pare it down by listing only those folks that have linked from our infancy. Thanks to The Mudflats, I Heart The Mudflats, Beach Peanuts, Malia Litman’s Blog, Palingates, Waylon’s Revolution, Future Update, Palin’s Q&A + fun, SPN Headlines, The WilliamBanzai17 Blog, Lynn Happens and my unknown homie, Micky-T. I encourage all Rocketeers to visit these sites.

To the loyal Rocketeers: Thanks to all of you that visit the Blast-Off on a regular basis. The hits to this blog have multiplied exponentially since its inception in May of 2009. I would never have anticipated that so many blood-thirsty shut-ins existed and/or had the interest to read anything that I might post. I am especially thankful for those depraved souls (you know who you are) that regularly post comments. They are insightful, humorous, sometimes unintelligible and usually sarcastic. In short, just the type of stuff that belongs here. I love them, so please keep it up. I would also like to thank all of you for putting up with my multiple “Brett Farvreian” retirements and un-retirements. You folks put the “Rock” in Rocketeers.

and last but not least…

To the Palin Clan: It was, after all, Sarah Palin and her Wasilla Hillbillies that inspired the song parody phenom now known as Lynnrockets. If not for their fingernails-on-the-chalkboard voices, unintelligible speech patterns, spoiled-brat-like demeanors, public policy ignorance, celebrity-status seeking egos and their religious cult-like followers, we would be deprived of a daily supply of parody material. For all of that, Sarah Palin, we thank you.

Lynnrockets would like to wish all of you the happiest and healthiest of Thanksgivings. I toast to you all as follows:

“For each new morning with its light, For rest and shelter of the night, For health and food, For love and friends, For everything Thy goodness sends.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Lynnrockets needs your help. Boston’s largest talk radio station (WRKO AM) has chosen Lynnrockets as a finalist in its “Next Great Political Blogger Contest”. Yours truly has been selected  by the station’s staff (from over 200 entries) to be one of 10 finalists for a position with the station as a “liberal” blogger. There will be two winners (a “liberal” and a “conservative”) chosen by means of internet votes received. This is our chance to get even with the Palinbots for what they did for Bristol Palin on “Dancing With The Stars”. Like Bristol, I lack talent but with all of you voting for me, I may be able to pull-off an upset win. I offer my eternal gratitude if you loyal Rocketeers will visit the WRKO website (Here) and vote for wait…wait…here comes the spoiler…”Kevin McCarthy”. Looks like I’ve now been officially outed. Please vote early and often as the contest ends on Saturday, December 11th at 11:59pm EST. I would truly appreciate your help and if you really want to be of assistance, please encourage your family and friends to vote also, too!
