“Blood Libel”: Another Example of Palin’s Violent And Insensitive Rhetoric

"I'm the real victim of the Arizona shootings"

Wow, I just watched Sarah Palin’s “I Am The Real Victim Of The Arizona Shootings Speech” and I quickly realized something. The former ex-quitting half-term governor of Alaska is simply incapable of making a statement without resorting to some sort of violent and insensitive rhetoric.

Clearly, the primary intention of Sarah Palin’s Facebook posted, FDR-emulating fireside chat was to deny any connection between her bullet-laden rhetoric and sniper-sight symbolism and the recent Arizona murders. In attempting to do so, she not only placed blame upon media members and government officials that have called for a scaling-back of the ever increasing right-wing inspired calls for “revolution”, “2nd Amendment remedies” and “Bullets, not ballots”, but she also portrayed herself as the real victim of the Arizona atrocity. Problem is, Sarah Palin was incapable of making her point without resorting once again to the very same type of violent and insensitive rhetoric for which she has recently come under fire.

After making only brief reference to the victims of the shooting and failing to mention Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ ongoing fight for life, Palin said,

“But, especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible.”

“Blood libel” Sarah? Really, is that the best term you and your team of ghost-writers could come-up with over the last 3 days while you hunkered down in silence? Didn’t anybody in the Palin “brain-trust” dissuade you from not only recklessly using the word “blood” in an inflammatory statement made in the aftermath of a blood-laden tragedy, but also combining it with the word “libel” so as to invoke a very anti-semitic slur? After attending 5 colleges in 6 years which culminated in an alleged degree in journalism, Sarah Palin should have learned somewhere that “blood libel” is a false claim that religious minorities, usually Jews, murder Christian children to use their blood in religious rituals. This was a particularly insensitive term to use in that Gabrielle Giffords is Jewish and 9 year-old Christina Taylor-Green was killed in the attack. Somehow, “Team Palin” always seems to say the wrong thing at the wrong time, so we should not be surprised that she has done it yet again.

The overwhelming tone of Sarah Palin’s statement seemed to be that she considers herself to be one of the main victims of the violent shooting. It is obvious that when she said, “We are better than the mindless finger-pointing we endured in the wake of the tragedy”, she was referring to the finger-pointing which she personally endured as the result of targeting Gabrielle Giffords with sniper-sight symbols. Again, Sarah Palin believes that she too is a victim of this tragedy. Not a single life-threatening bullet grazed her, but her feelings were hurt. Oh, poor, poor piful Sarah!

In honor of the troops, please remember to click on the song link below to familiarize yourselves with the tune and to have more fun singing along with today’s song parody.

Poor, Poor Pitiful Me song link:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srpwqf2MWAw

(sung to the Linda Ronstadt version of the song “Poor, Poor Pitiful Me”)

Although I’ve left some blood in my tracks
You know I’m still “mavericky”
Twenty lay shot on the floor
Poor, poor Sarah P.

Poor, poor pitiful me
Poor, poor Sarah P
The left-wing won’t let me be
Lord have mercy on me
Woe, woe is me

Well, I targeted Gabrielle real good
I was naming names
Then someone worked her over good
Now they say that I’m to blame
My intentions were misunderstood
I hope the doctors now can mend her
I put her in some danger, Lord
Now they’ve run me through the blender

Poor, poor pitiful me
Poor, poor Sarah P.
The left-wing won’t let me be
Lord have mercy on me
Woe, woe is me

(Reloading break)

Well, all this “blood libel” has consumed me
This poor “Grizzly Mama”
My White House hopes are tumblin’ down
Unless I target Obama!

Poor, poor pitiful me
Poor, poor Sarah P.
The left-wing won’t let me be
Lord have mercy on me
Woe, woe is me

Poor, poor, poor me
Poor, poor pitiful me
Poor, poor, poor me
Poor, poor pitiful me
Poor, poor, poor me
Poor, poor pitiful me

  1. The timing and content of her speech were terrible. Her advisors and speech writers are clueless. Contrasted with the President’s speech last night, hers looks even worse than before. She just doesn’t get it and she never will. David Frum last night on Lawrence O’Donnell’s show discussing her statement: “She’s like a big melting iceberg in warm water and I think a big bunch of ice just slid off the side.”

  2. The best thing this idiot zip it, and do a fast fade into an Alaskan sunset, and never return.

    • That fast fade may be happening as we speak.

      • I do believe this is the end of the Snowbilly Grifter – not soon enough – don’t care, just as long as she is off the airwaves and the “blamestream media” – their current meme does not report every twat of the twit. Ms. Bush Senior was correct, Snowbilly Grifter needs to stay in Alaska. Quietly. Funny thing – Barstool bought a house outside Phoenix for some sort of radio job and rumours are around that Snowbilly also bought a house in Arizona – bet NEITHER are welcome in Arizona any longer – nor is McLoser. He looked just as mummified last night as he has looked since he lost for not only being an out-of-touch fossil, but also for foisting the Snowbilly Grifter upon our country. Good Riddance.

I keep reading about the dissatisfaction of the younger generation – all these kids with degrees and no jobs – upset at the fossils in the Legislature who have wrecked America and will not allow any of their ideas to come to fruition by not allowing funding….maybe they will begin to understand that VOTING these fossils out is the way to get rid of them and start the YOUTH REVOLUTION like the one we had in the late 60s and early 70s – sure hope so for our country’s sake and the future of America.

  3. Death Panels

Fox management directs pundits to ‘tone it down’ and Palin counters that Giffords has no cause for complaint because responsibility for the massacre rests entirely with the gunman, but if the Media insist on “going blood libel” on her -the innocent victim- then that really will incite “the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn.”

Of course, Palin’s own blood libel of Muslim New Yorkers didn’t incite any violence- those wussy liberal elite city slickers aren’t armed to the teeth!

  4. Live by the media die by the media. She is inflicting herself on us every day since the election starting from the stupid turkey pardoning. She did herself in by getting Bristol on dancing with the stars and having her supporters multiple vote for her. Then her over exposure with her alaska program where everybod saw how fake and useless she was. She made herself into an iceberg and she plopped herself in the hot water.

  5. Virtually every time Ms. Palin speaks out, she reinforces some of the worst impressions or deepest concerns many of us have about her.

    good one from HuffPo:

    BTW…love this blog Lynnrockets

  6. Lynnrockets,

My first time here……Like it!! I’ve spent most of my time at Malia’s, and neither of you share info much, which is a refreshing change from the assembly-line, “can’t be different” drone of right-wing talking points and “conservative” cookie-cutter discussion.

    On to Palin…….

Her appearance on slanthead’s show on monday will be the attempt to re-brand little missy trash talk. Fox has invested millions in her, and they will do anything to ensure their investment pays off.
The NRA tried on wednesday, and it failed miserably.
Fox’s attempt won’t be an interview as much as a $arah Palin infomercial. Trouble is, there won’t be any substance, because there’s nothing to draw from. The viewers won’t know any more about her than what is already known, but be assured, her sycophants will get the little clues littered all over the prepared statements Fox will have provided, take my word for it.
If the “interview” fails, she has two more opportunities- one from the oil industry, and the last from the teabaggers.
She is already DOA as far as her political chances, so why not do this desperate last-ditch plea for pity?

No vice-presidential candidate in our history who lost an election was ever elected President, and Palin won’t change that record.

    • I agree that her political future on the national level has now been reduced to toast. BTW, I also commend Malia’s blog for its originality.

Thanks for commenting and please do so again.

  7. There is the same principle as the Christina Taylor Green: Scott Calvin Dieter. Scott Calvin Dieter was the adoptive son of former United States Army Captain Craig Brian Eric and Beth Ann (Laufer) Dieter. Dieter was shot dead for no apparent reason. Thank God, Scott’s gunman was shot dead by Ben Campbell, and at least it can save taxpayers a lot of money for a trial, and Campbell was a hero!

  8. By the way, the Christina Taylor Green of Ohio, Scott Calvin Dieter, was born in Russia. Gloria Janice Parsons Leonidas was well known as the involvement of the relighting the Statue of Liberty. May her memory be eternal! Leonidas fought with the gunman until the end. Kimberly Layfield was the distant cousin of Davy Crockett!

  9. There is another one like Christina Taylor Green: Ryan Christopher “Stack” Clark. Clark gave his life saving a woman and he was born on May 29, 1984, shares the same birthday as the very last American Slave and the very last human being to possess the firsthand memories of the trials of the Civil War or institutional slavery, Sylvester Magee (he does not know how to read). Magee’s last words, “Lord Have Mercy.” That is a fitting end.

  10. There is another one like Christina Taylor Green: Jesse McCord Lewis. Lewis was a young boy and he paid the ultimate price by saving many children that day.
