Palin’s Boston Tea Party Bombs!

The same outfit worn in Boston today.

Although Fox News will report that attendance was in the millions, the actual head count for Sarah Palin’s Tea-Bagger rally on Boston Common today was approximately 1000 (including protesters). Let’s put that in perspective. The population of metropolitan Boston is 4.5 million and only 1000 bothered to see Sarah Palin on a bright sunny Spring day with temperatures in the mid sixties . More people than that show up on a daily basis at Boston Common to watch a squirrel and a pigeon fight over a discarded pretzel. The television coverage of NECN embarrassingly showed a lot more green grass than human beings on the Common.

Palin protesters were present. Many were sporting signs which said, “Health Care Reform. No Thanks To Palin”. Another read, “Hey Sarah, Family Values = 30 Million Newly Insured Americans”. We will update with more on the protest signs as we learn more. One of the Tea-Baggers held a sign which said, “Remember When Dissent Was Patriotic?”, only it was misspelled as “Dessent”. How appropriate and predictable.

Palin was dressed in a red leather jacket with a flag button (as usual). She said that husband Todd was with her and that he liked this type of tea party more than the ones he was forced to attend with other first ladies when he was the “First Dude”. The former ex-quitting governor of Alaska spoke only for about 20 minutes. It was the usual nonsense drivel in which she criticized the current administration without offering even one single alternative policy initiative. She claimed that “radical” changes like the health care reform law and student loan reforms have alienated our allies. Huh? She uttered her tiresome refrain that “Bostonians, like the rest of America will continue to cling to our Constitution, our guns and our religion”. Of course, Palin did not realize that Massachusetts favors and harbors some of the most strict gun laws in the nation. Sarah Palin needs to do some homework about the venues where she speaks. Next, she said that “the government works for the people, not the other way around”. Perhaps she should ask the millions of federal, state and municipal employees about that doozy. In rapid succession she then said, “nu-cue-ler” “drill baby, drill” and “Ya betcha”. The best part of her speech was that the amplifiers cut out repeatedly such that most of the small crowd could not hear a word that she spoke. The rally was scheduled to last until 1:00 pm but the crowd was gone by 11:25 am.

At one point, Ms. Quittypants attempted to rev up the quiet gathering by claiming that she had a personal connection to Boston. She claimed to have been on a youth hockey trip here when she met 1980 Olympic hockey captain and champion, Mike Eruzione. Problem is, Palin forgot his first name and completely mispronounced his last name. Of course Mike Eruzione (the good Democrat that he is) was not present at the rally. Then again, neither was newly elected nudist Republican Senator Scott Brown, Republican gubernatorial candidate Charles Baker or Republican congressional candidate Jeffrey Perry. The Massachusetts Republican candidates (few that there are) realize that Sarah Palin and her violent yet silly rhetoric is toxic to their election chances.

Sarah Palin was introduced to the tiny audience by local uber-conservative talk radio host and columnist for the Boston Herald (Enquirer). Michael Graham. Graham airs his acerbic daily radio show on Boston’s WTKK (affectionately known as WKKK as the result of its almost entirely right wing lineup). It is interesting to note that Graham drew criticism from blogs on the Left and the Right for comments about Bill and Hillary Clinton made on CNN Headline News’ Glenn Beck Show on June 20, 2007. Referring to a Clinton campaign ad based on the final episode of The Sopranos, Graham said “…didn’t you at some point want to see, like, Paulie Walnuts, somebody come in here and just whack them both right there? Wouldn’t that have been great?…Come on! Where’s “Big Pussy”? Come on! Let’s make it happen…I wanted that.” Graham adores and advocates gun violence as much as his hero Sarah Palin.

Thankfully, the response to this version of the Boston Tea Party was tepid.

In honor of the troops, please remember to click on the song link below to familiarize yourselves with the tune and to have more fun singing along with today’s song parody.

ALASKAN PIE

(sung to the Don McLean song “American Pie”)

A long, long time ago…
I can still remember
Palin’s slutty flight attendant style
And when she blew her only chance
With John McCain in the Big Dance
In light of the pregnancy of her child

In February she did shiver
When Levi sold her down the river
Bad news at her doorstep
She didn’t have no more pep

The allegations she denied
Of all those gifts that she did hide
She took Alaskans for a ride
As she cajoled and lied

So bye-bye Miss Alaska bye-bye
You were shady and darn lazy
With a crazy beehive
And your background boys were making turkey head pie
Then you quit on the third day of July
Quit on the third day of July

Did you quit the job you love
After talking with God up above?
Did the good Lord tell you so?
Are you still pals with Plumber Joe?
Do dead fish still go with the flow?
And can Todd’s sister score me some good blow?

Well you know that your prospects are grim
’cause you’re way way out there on a limb
You’re sure to have the blues
Man, you screwed up those interviews

You’re just a lonely mid-aged “hockey mom”
With real deep frustration and a man that’s dumb
You’re just a third rate school alum
Today your future died

We started singing
Bye-bye Miss Alaska bye-bye
You were shady and darn lazy
With a crazy beehive
And your background boys were making turkey head pie
Then you quit on the third day of July
Quit on the third day of July

Now for two years all you did was drone
Remember Sarkozy on the phone?
But just what will your future be?
Will you pester us like a has been queen?
Will you pout and whine like a spoiled teen?
In a voice that sounds so shrill and mean,

Oh, and when you leave Wasilla town
Take along your beauty pageant crown
And bridges that you burned
Oh, please never return
And those hits you took will leave some marks
A “Barracuda” is no shark
And you were always in the dark
Today your future died

We were singing
Bye-bye Miss Alaska bye-bye
You were shady and darn lazy
With a crazy beehive
And your background boys were making turkey head pie
Then you quit on the third day of July
Quit on the third day of July

Helter skelter you are sure to swelter
The ice in your veins may even melt-ah
Ethics problems coming fast
You’re landing hard on your ass
No throwing stones in a house of glass
When you’re starring in a demon cleansing mass

Now your thinning hair reeks with perfume
You’re a spaceman cuz you see the moon
Your fans would shout and dance
Oh, to your “drill baby drill” chants!
Katie Couric made you squirm and squeal
And that was when your fate was sealed
Do you recall what was revealed
The day your future died?

We started singing
Bye-bye Miss Alaska bye-bye
You were shady and darn lazy
With a crazy beehive
And your background boys were making turkey head pie
Then you quit on the third day of July
Quit on the third day of July

Oh, and then that look upon your face
Not knowing a Supreme Court case
Forget about the Bush Doctrine
So come on: jack be nimble, jack be quick
Sarah Palin’s no “Maverick”
Cuz she’s just a “Barbie” to Todd’s “Ken”

As we watched you on that debate stage
Your hands were clenched in fists of rage
Everyone then could tell
You were praying for the bell
And as you hoped that you could land a right,
To salvage something of the night
We saw Biden laughing with delight
That day your future died

Joe was singing
Bye-bye Miss Alaska bye-bye
You were shady and darn lazy
With a crazy beehive
And your background boys were making turkey head pie
Then you quit on the third day of July
Quit on the third day of July

Palin’s a girl who has the blues
And she cannot handle interviews
She quit her job and walked away
She could not take it any more
She hightailed it right out the door
Just like a scared child, she up and ran away

And in the streets the voters beamed,
The good Lord had fulfilled their dreams
Sherry Johnston was tokin’
The “barracuda” broken
We did not really want to boast
But “Mama Bear” was finally toast
She’ll write about it through her ghost
That day her future died.

And we were singing
Bye-bye Miss Alaska bye-bye
You were shady and darn lazy
With a crazy beehive
And your background boys were making turkey head pie
Then you quit on the third day of July
Quit on the third day of July

We were singing
Bye-bye Miss Alaska bye-bye
You were shady and darn lazy
With a crazy beehive
And your background boys were making turkey head pie
Then you quit on the third day of July
Quit on the third day of July

  1. It’s good to read of her failure. How can anyone but someone in the pockets of the bankers be opposed to taking the bankers out of the student loan loop?

    • Let’s see, the taxpayers will now get the benefit of the interest paid on student loans rather than the bankers. That sounds like the govt. working for us Sarah, doesn’t it?

  2. check out this live blog of the event – hilarious!

    http://www.truthout.org/palin-bags-boston-a-live-blog58556

  3. Ok … I see. Our allies are upset about our student loan reformation? Got it.

  4. Great article. I enjoyed it!

  5. Lynnrockets – Thanks again for a great article and song!

  6. Bravo! “More people than that show up on a daily basis at Boston Common to watch a squirrel and a pigeon fight over a discarded pretzel.”

You made my day with that one line–I can’t stop laughing about this imagery!

This whole post was terrific, as usual. The Granny Grifter bubble-brain doesn’t realize that she and McCain are part of what was alienating to our allies, and now much-needed repair is going on with this administration.

  7. great stuff

  8. Sarah in Wonderland

Alienating our allies? On a recent visit to our great nation, Palin’s favorite foreigner, French President Nicolas “Nailin’ Palin” Sarkozy spoke about our healthcare reform to students at Columbia University; “Welcome to the club of states who don’t turn their back on the sick and the poor!”.

    She’s mad as a Hatter!

  9. great post Lynnerockets, i was wondering about the true story on her Boston kkk meeting. glad that millions of Bostonians found something else to do on a beautiful spring day…. good news.

  10. brilliant as always, Lynn!

  11. TeSlightReturn

I was there as a counter-protester. It was laughably pathetic. I hardly ever said a word of my own political views, but was constantly berated by “Tea baggers” for A: being a college student and B: my hat (which apparently looked like the cap that Mao sported). Apparently the fact that I am a musician does not qualify me as a “true patriot” as I was told many times. I walked around all day with one simple question that none of the “Tea partiers” seemed to be able to answer: where were you during the Bush years. It really was a revealing display of the blind mob mentality that the Tea Party has developed in the past few months. Id dare to say at least half of the “1000 people” in attendance were there to tell Palin to get out of our town.

    • Thanks for “taking one for the team”. I agree with you regarding the mentality of the Tea-Baggers. They do not really seem to understand their stated policy motives. For instance, they claim to be middle class citizens against tax increases, yet Obama has cut taxes for the middle class. They claim to hate socialist policies, yet they do not want their Medicare benefits reduced. This disconnect between their stated motives and reality leads me to believe that their agenda is in fact something different altogether. Either the Tea-Baggers simply hate anything that Democrats propose merely because they are Democrats, or more sinister yet, it really is racism that motivates them.

      • The “division” in our country isn’t so much between red and blue states; it is a division between the 10% super-rich who hogged the Bush tax cuts for themselves, and everybody else.

Republicans take advantage of Fundamentalist bible-thumpers, racists, “real” American gun owners, malcontents, etc. as proxies, to arrive at 51% of the vote.

      • Let’s hope the duped Bible-thumpers, gun-toters and uneducated come to their senses and realize that they are simply being used by the Republicans.

  12. Count again. Fox reported 4-5,000 last night, and even the Boston Globe reported that there were some 6,000 in attendance. If you’re going to slam, slam accurately.

    http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2010/04/15/palin_tea_party_express_hit_chord_in_hub/

And as for this post “they claim to be middle class citizens against tax increases, yet Obama has cut taxes for the middle class.” Could you please point out the tax cut for the middle class that I’m getting? My accountant can’t find it!

I’m an educated independent paying up on the 15th. How many of you are?

    • Two university degrees from leading-in-the-world institutions, property owner who paid thousands in property, State and Federal taxes this week. Also, was registered Independent and switched to Democrat when GWB was running the first time. And my accountant did get the tax benefit for me. Just dropped off my tax payments, thank you for asking.

(Fox Fraudcasting was caught several times faking photos on “news” reports, if you remember. Jon Stewart of The Daily Show caught that, the first time it was painfully obvious, so you might want to take what they say with a bucket of salt.)

    • To begin, The Boston Globe did not report that there were 6000 in attendance. The Globe stated that a “park ranger estimated” that 6000 were in attendance. The Globe did not go on the record with its own accounting of attendance. The conservative Boston Herald (Enquirer) reported even a smaller number of 5000. New England Cable News reported 1000 and Politico.com reported 3000. All of the estimates included the anti-Tea-Bagger protesters. The Boston Police did not release a head count. No matter how you slice it, the number was way below the 10,000 minimum that organizer Mark Williams said he would be satisfied with. Rush Limbaugh (liar that he is, reported that 30,000 were in attendance, but what else would you expect?

In comparison, please consider that the event paled in comparison to other recent events at Boston Common. The Pope was viewed by over 400,000 in 2005 and the 2007 Anti-Iraq War protest garnered attendance in excess of 10,000.

As for your Obama tax cut, on April 1, 2009 you might remember that Obama signed a tax cut into law known as the “Making Work Pay Tax Credit” as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The Making Work Pay Tax Credit provides immediate and sustained relief to about 95 percent of American workers and their families. Most working individuals will receive $400 a year and working families will receive $800 a year through reduced payroll deductions and taxpayers do not have to take any action to receive this tax credit. The credit continues in 2010. If your accountant was unaware of this much publicized tax law, you should find a better accountant.

      • The tax break referenced does not apply to the self-employed. Surprise, surprise. So enjoy your $400, as the tax increases to come will make a joke of that.

  13. So fill me in. I would love to hear, specifically, what the tax breaks were. Glad to see you took offense to my stereotyping you. As I take offense to all the posters stereotyping me. I am not racist, gun toting, bible thumping, or uneducated.

And what about the “Boston Globe Democrat”? Did they count wrong?

  14. Who said anything about taking offense? You asked a question.

As far as my personal tax info beyond what I have done, I’m not interested in laying it all out in public for someone who has no need for my personal info. Maybe you could ask a CPA about your tax planning and deductions. I paid for my CPA’s advice, because I expect to pay for services…including for public schools, roads, parks, airports, etc. Even if I don’t have children, don’t drive the roads in your state, etc.

  15. The offense comes through in your responsce, and your once again making assumptions about me.

My first post references my accountant, who I, like you pay for. I, like you, also expect to pay for services such as roads, schools, parks, and airports too.

But I do not expect to pay for other peoples services, like health care. Although in MA I already am. My health insurance, which I pay for myself as a small business owner, has gone up 180% since our state’s health care reform in 2006. Can’t wait to see what they want from me on a federal level.

I wasn’t asking for you to share your “secrets” But you must have some, as there was no new Obama tax break.

    • I have places to go and people to meet (and work to do), but your tax break question was addressed above by lynnrockets in #12. Google can be your friend. So can reading.

    • @ C. Anderson #15

You are beginning to make no sense. You say that you “expect to pay for services such as roads, schools, parks, and airports too. ” But then you say, “I do not expect to pay for other peoples services, like health care.”

In fact, when you pay for schools and roads and police, you are paying “for other people’s services”. You are not the only one to use those schools, roads and police services. By the way, do you want to repeal Medicare also? That is a service that you pay for the benefit of others.

I too own a few businesses in MA and although my insurance premiums have increased from 2006 by about 40%, I have not seen any increase like 180%. Furthermore, without health insurance reform my and your premiums would have increased much more. Additionally, you and I have benefited for 4 years now from any exclusions based upon pre-existing conditions and 97% of MA residents have health insurance now. The law works and that is why it is now the model for the national plan. The national plan is now law and will stay so.

Please see my responses above so you can learn about the Obama tax cuts in effect for the last 2 years.

      • Ugh. I could not be clearer. I do not want to pay for other people’s services, such as, health care.

And aren’t you lucky to only have your rates go up 40%? I haven’t benefited from anything in the last four years. I am paying more for a lesser plan.

Never said we did not need health care reform. Just not the kind being forced on us. And the law in MA has not been proven yet, and thus, should not be seen as a model. It is unsustainable on the state level, and will be worse on the federal level.

Please see my response to your comment about the “Obama tax cuts”.

I’m done. Came here by pure accident, and am now convinced that the Tea Party movement, and any like it will get my support. You are all drinking the koolaid.

      • @ C. Anderson #15:
So let me get this straight, you only want to pay for other people’s services that you approve of like schools, roads and police, but not health care? That is pretty selfish, but once again I ask you, what is your opinion of Medicare? Using your thought process, it too should be repealed because the program forces you to pay for other people’s health care. By the way, shouldn’t you object to paying taxes for police service to other people when you could hire your own security detail?

Also, if the MA health care reform law hasn’t been proven yet and therefore shouldn’t be used as a national model, then why do you use it as a model to be objected too?

Finally, do you have no response to the fact that Obama has cut taxes for 95% of Americans?

      • The selfish card. How typical.

Health care is not a right it is a privilege. Unfortunately, some things do need to be earned.

Please see reply above about the tax cuts.

      • Do you consider roads, schools and airports a right or a privilege? I ask this because you confuse me. If you consider those things to also be a privilege then your reasoning on objecting to paying for others’ health care is inconsistent inasmuch as you have stated that you believe in paying for roads, schools etc. Also, if you feel health care is not a right then I assume that you have no objection to repealing Medicare. This is now the third time that you have avoided answering my question about Medicare.

By the way, I had no idea if you were male or female. That is why I used the words “spouse” and “his/her” in my comment above.

When you say, “when the top 2% stop investing, hiring, spending, and increasing their wealth where will it come from.”, what do you mean? Please remember that it was after those tax cuts for the rich went into effect that the economy collapsed. Consequently, there is no indication that the tax cuts to the rich spurred the economy. There is only evidence to the contrary.

      • Tough to earn the money for health insurance if you are too sick to work isn’t it?

  16. Wow, more assumptions and rudeness.

The tax break referenced does not apply to the self-employed. Surprise, surprise. So enjoy your $400, as the tax increases to come will make a joke of that. You better get to work!

    • It does not apply to the self employed like myself, however it does apply to the 95% of Americans that are not self employed and are not in the top 2% of wage earners. Hence, contrary to your assertion, Obama has given tax cuts to the working class. I wonder, are you married? And if so, does your spouse work somewhere as an employee? If she does, you also may have received a tax break on his/her income if you file jointly.

There have been no tax increases and your prediction of such is purely speculative. There are no present plans to raise taxes on the middle class only to repeal the Bush tax cuts for the top 2%.

      • I guess I’m not done.

Yes, I am married. And my husband is self-employed as well (interesting you thought I was male). Two hard working, home owning citizens who are not in the top 2% of wage earners.

Hence, contrary to your assertion, Obama has not given breaks to the entire working class.

You are correct, I speculate on the tax increases. But we will need more than a repeal of the Bush tax cuts to cover what is in motion. And when the top 2% stop investing, hiring, spending, and increasing their wealth where will it come from.

        So short sighted.

        Done now, hopefully.

    • Yes, that’s what the lawyer who notarized my loan docs said when I bought my properties. As someone who has W2 income as well as Schedule C income, has had health insurance costs go up and had to change ins cos plus change deductibles to 5K, I feel your pain.

You read more into my words, given your inability to see my facial expression, intonation and sense of humor.

      Good luck to you.

  17. shortbuswonderkid

What was that show, John and Kate have eight? It was so yesterday’s TV. History won’t remember Sarah either, but you got to lover a good train wreck when it happens.

  18. You referred to my spouse as “she”.

I do not consider roads, schools etc to be a privilege. And nothing I wrote suggested that. I do not want Medicare repealed. And your saying I have to object to both universal health care and medicaid at once is an easy out.

It was the Reagan tax cuts that got us out of the last recession. And you know what I mean by “where will it come from”. There is plenty of evidence that tax cuts spur the economy. And although I’d love to hear what “lynnrocket” considers “evidence of the contrary”, I will not be back to find out.

Lovely little blog you have. Too bad it’s pure fiction.

    • I intended to say “he/she” as is evidenced by my use of the terms “spouse” and “his/her” elsewhere in the same comment.

OK, if you do not consider roads, schools etc to be a privilege, then you must consider them to be a “right”. If so, I would love to hear your reasoning about that. Also, if as you have said repeatedly today, that you “do not expect to pay for other peoples services, like health care”, then why do you not object to paying for other people’s health care services through taxpayer funded Medicare? Indeed, Medicare is even more socialist than the health care reform law because no private profit making health insurers are in the mix.

Actually the Reagan tax cuts did not get us out of a recession. In fact, unemployment increased to over 10% almost two years after the tax cut. Also, Reagan followed the tax cuts with the largest tax increase in history up to that point in time. You might also remember that Reagan left us with a large deficit upon leaving office.

      Enough factual evidence for you?

  19. If the grass looks greener on the Boston Common this summer, thank Sarah Palin for fertilizing it with tons of bullshit.

I saw Obama speak on Boston Common in October 2007. He displayed his willingness to offer specific, well-reasoned, fact-based proposals that people could then accept or reject based on their agreement of disagreement. I see this – and his insistence on respecting the dignity of people whether they are friend or foe – as his two defining characteristics. These are good qualities.

Few American politicians of any era so exemplify the opposite of these good qualities as does Sarah Palin. Almost every sentence she utters publically is some combination of false, mean, and stupid. John McCain should have ended his political career with dignity rather than allow his service to be used as a vehicle to bring this horrible woman to national prominence.

There are some Republicans who have a shred of decency and something positive to contribute to the future of the United States. She is not one of them.

  20. Tell me about it. When I got the nasty cold/flu this winter, I still had to pay my premium.

  21. @ 13 C. Anderson

“I am not racist, gun toting, bible thumping, or uneducated”.

    Hey! You forgot about “malcontent”!
