Tea-Baggers Are Chagrined To Learn Obama Helps Them

CNN posted an interesting piece online yesterday. It reported that President Obama claims that the Tea-Baggers should thank him for reducing their taxes. The Confused Tea-Baggers constantly harp on about how the President is raising their taxes. Truth be told however, Obama has reduced their taxes. The White House noted Thursday that federal taxes were reduced by $173 billion in 2009 and said that the average tax refund is about 10 percent higher than last year.

Speaking at a Democratic fundraiser in Miami Thursday night, the president touted tax cuts in the stimulus measure and the fact that the tax rate has not been increased for those making less than $250,000 a year.

“So I’ve been amused in recent days by these people having rallies,” he told the crowd at the fundraiser to laughter. “I think they should be saying thank you.”

Lynnrockets agrees.

OK, now for the funny stuff. Today’s song parody is my version of the Tea-Baggers’ National Anthem. As Sarah Palin would say, in honor of the troops, please click on the song link below to have more fun singing along. (As an aside, please note that the music video link is in honor of recently deceased filmmaker, John Hughes and is a clip from his wonderful film, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off)

FRIDAY NIGHT MUSIC BYTE

Wikipedia tells us, Alice Cooper (born Vincent Damon Furnier; February 4, 1948) is an American rock singer, songwriter and broadcaster whose career spans more than four decades. With a stage show that features guillotines, electric chairs, fake blood, boa constrictors and baby dolls, Cooper has drawn equally from horror movies, vaudeville, and garage rock to pioneer a grandly theatrical and violent brand of heavy metal that was designed to shock.

Alice Cooper was originally a band consisting of Furnier on vocals and harmonica, lead guitarist Glen Buxton, Michael Bruce on rhythm guitar, Dennis Dunaway on bass guitar, and drummer Neal Smith. The original Alice Cooper band broke into the international music mainstream with the 1971 hit “I’m Eighteen” from the album Love it to Death, which was followed by the even bigger single “School’s Out” in 1972. The band reached their commercial peak with the 1973 album Billion Dollar Babies.

Furnier’s solo career as Alice Cooper, adopting the band’s name as his own name, began with the 1975 concept album Welcome to My Nightmare. In 2008 he released Along Came a Spider, his 18th solo album. Expanding from his original Detroit rock roots, over the years Cooper has experimented with many different musical styles, including conceptual rock, art rock, glam metal, hard rock, new wave, pop rock, soft rock, experimental rock and industrial rock. In recent times he has returned more to his garage rock roots.

On VH1′s “100 Greatest artists of Hard Rock”, Cooper was ranked #20.

Please enjoy this video clip of Alice Cooper performing “Welcome To My Nightmare“.

Sarah Palin Begs Tea-Bagger Banter

OK, now everyone give a big sigh of relief. For the time being it appears that the Tea Party Express Traveling Freak Show and Palin Podium has ended. Yesterday’s underwhelming rally in Washington DC was the final scheduled event until the whackjobs get all worked up late this summer in anticipation of the November 2010 elections.

For those of you that have not had the pleasure of having a conversation with a Tea-Bagger, today’s blog post should quench your thirst. You might recall that two days ago on April 14th, Lynnrockets posted a blog entry which described Sarah Palin and the Tea-Baggers at their Boston Common rally. In short, the post stated that Palin was as indecipherable as ever and the event was poorly attended.

As most of you are aware, any criticism of Palin or her brothers in arms brings out the Palinbots and Tea-Baggers in defense of her/their honor. Wednesday’s blog post was no exception. This time however, only one misinformed defender came to the fight. The blog suddenly began to receive comments from a Palinbot/Tea-Bagger with the moniker, C. Anderson (just wondering, but has she shown up on any other blogs?). Ms. Anderson, like Lynnrockets, hails from Massachusetts and right from the get go she demonstrated the Palinbot/Tea-Bagger traits of circular reasoning, lack of subject matter knowledge and denial of fact. The following is a transcript (if you will) of my conversation with her in the comment section of the post. Please enjoy.

12. C. Anderson – April 15, 2010

Count again. Fox reported 4-5,000 last night, and even the Boston Globe reported that there were some 6,000 in attendance. If you’re going to slam, slam accurately.

http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2010/04/15/palin_tea_party_express_hit_chord_in_hub/

And as for this post “they claim to be middle class citizens against tax increases, yet Obama has cut taxes for the middle class.” Could you please point out the tax cut for the middle class that I’m getting? My accountant can’t find it!

I’m an educated independent paying up on the 15th. How many of you are?

lynnrocketsApril 15, 2010

To begin, The Boston Globe did not report that there were 6000 in attendance. The Globe stated that a “park ranger estimated” that 6000 were in attendance. The Globe did not go on the record with its own accounting of attendance. The conservative Boston Herald (Enquirer) reported even a smaller number of 5000. New England Cable News reported 1000 and Politico.com reported 3000. All of the estimates included the anti-Tea-Bagger protesters. The Boston Police did not release a head count. No matter how you slice it, the number was way below the 10,000 minimum that organizer Mark Williams said he would be satisfied with. Rush Limbaugh (liar that he is, reported that 30,000 were in attendance, but what else would you expect?

In comparison, please consider that the event paled in comparison to other recent events at Boston Common. The Pope was viewed by over 400,000 in 2005 and the 2007 Anti-Iraq War protest garnered attendance in excess of 10,000.

As for your Obama tax cut, on April 1, 2009 you might remember that Obama signed a tax cut into law known as the “Making Work Pay Tax Credit” as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The Making Work Pay Tax Credit provides immediate and sustained relief to about 95 percent of American workers and their families. Most working individuals will receive $400 a year and working families will receive $800 a year through reduced payroll deductions and taxpayers do not have to take any action to receive this tax credit. The credit continues in 2010. If your accountant was unaware of this much publicized tax law, you should find a better accountant.

13. C. Anderson – April 15, 2010

So fill me in. I would love to hear, specifically, what the tax breaks were. Glad to see you took offense to my stereotyping you. As I take offense to all the posters stereotyping me. I am not racist, gun toting, bible thumping, or uneducated.

And what about the “Boston Globe Democrat”? Did they count wrong?

lynnrocketsApril 15, 2010

Please see my response (above) to your last comment.

15. C. Anderson – April 15, 2010

My first post references my accountant, who I, like you pay for. I, like you, also expect to pay for services such as roads, schools, parks, and airports too.

But I do not expect to pay for other peoples services, like health care. Although in MA I already am. My health insurance, which I pay for myself as a small business owner, has gone up 180% since our state’s health care reform in 2006. Can’t wait to see what they want from me on a federal level.

I wasn’t asking for you to share your “secrets” But you must have some, as there was no new Obama tax break.

lynnrocketsApril 15, 2010

@ C. Anderson #15

You are beginning to make no sense. You say that you “expect to pay for services such as roads, schools, parks, and airports too. ” But then you say, “I do not expect to pay for other peoples services, like health care.”

In fact, when you pay for schools and roads and police, you are paying “for other people’s services”. You are not the only one to use those schools, roads and police services. By the way, do you want to repeal Medicare also? That is a service that you pay for the benefit of others.

I too own a few businesses in MA and although my insurance premiums have increased from 2006 by about 40%, I have not seen any increase like 180%. Furthermore, without health insurance reform my and your premiums would have increased much more. Additionally, you and I have benefited for 4 years now from any exclusions based upon pre-existing conditions and 97% of MA residents have health insurance now. The law works and that is why it is now the model for the national plan. The national plan is now law and will stay so.

Please see my responses above so you can learn about the Obama tax cuts in effect for the last 2 years.

C. Anderson – April 15, 2010

Ugh. I could not be clearer. I do not want to pay for other people’s services, such as, health care.

And aren’t you lucky to only have your rates go up 40%? I haven’t benefited from anything in the last four years. I am paying more for a lesser plan.

Never said we did not need health care reform. Just not the kind being forced on us. And the law in MA has not been proven yet, and thus, should not be seen as a model. It is unsustainable on the state level, and will be worse on the federal level.

Please see my response to your comment about the “Obama tax cuts”.

I’m done. Came here by pure accident, and am now convinced that the Tea Party movement, and any like it will get my support. You are all drinking the koolaid.

C. Anderson – April 15, 2010

The tax break referenced does not apply to the self-employed. Surprise, surprise. So enjoy your $400, as the tax increases to come will make a joke of that.

lynnrocketsApril 15, 2010

@ C. Anderson #15:
So let me get this straight, you only want to pay for other people’s services that you approve of like schools, roads and police, but not health care? That is pretty selfish, but once again I ask you, what is your opinion of Medicare? Using your thought process, it too should be repealed because the program forces you to pay for other people’s health care. By the way, shouldn’t you object to paying taxes for police service to other people when you could hire your own security detail?

Also, if the MA health care reform law hasn’t been proven yet and therefore shouldn’t be used as a national model, then why do you use it as a model to be objected too?

Finally, do you have no response to the fact that Obama has cut taxes for 95% of Americans?

C. Anderson – April 15, 2010

The selfish card. How typical.

Health care is not a right it is a privilege. Unfortunately, some things do need to be earned.

Please see reply above about the tax cuts.

lynnrocketsApril 15, 2010

Tough to earn the money for health insurance if you are too sick to work isn’t it?

17. C. Anderson – April 15, 2010

Wow, more assumptions and rudeness.

The tax break referenced does not apply to the self-employed. Surprise, surprise. So enjoy your $400, as the tax increases to come will make a joke of that. You better get to work!

lynnrocketsApril 15, 2010

It does not apply to the self employed like myself, however it does apply to the 95% of Americans that are not self employed and are not in the top 2% of wage earners. Hence, contrary to your assertion, Obama has given tax cuts to the working class. I wonder, are you married? And if so, does your spouse work somewhere as an employee? If she does, you also may have received a tax break on his/her income if you file jointly.

There have been no tax increases and your prediction of such is purely speculative. There are no present plans to raise taxes on the middle class only to repeal the Bush tax cuts for the top 2%.

C. Anderson – April 15, 2010

I guess I’m not done.

Yes, I am married. And my husband is self-employed as well (interesting you thought I was male). Two hard working, home owning citizens who are not in the top 2% of wage earners.

Hence, contrary to your assertion, Obama has not given breaks to the entire working class.

You are correct, I speculate on the tax increases. But we will need more than a repeal of the Bush tax cuts to cover what is in motion. And when the top 2% stop investing, hiring, spending, and increasing their wealth where will it come from.

So short sighted.

Done now, hopefully.

lynnrocketsApril 15, 2010

Do you consider roads, schools and airports a right or a privilege? I ask this because you confuse me. If you consider those things to also be a privilege then your reasoning on objecting to paying for others’ health care is inconsistent inasmuch as you have stated that you believe in paying for roads, schools etc. Also, if you feel health care is not a right then I assume that you have no objection to repealing Medicare. This is now the third time that you have avoided answering my question about Medicare.

By the way, I had no idea if you were male or female. That is why I used the words “spouse” and “his/her” in my comment above.

When you say, “when the top 2% stop investing, hiring, spending, and increasing their wealth where will it come from.”, what do you mean? Please remember that it was after those tax cuts for the rich went into effect that the economy collapsed. Consequently, there is no indication that the tax cuts to the rich spurred the economy. There is only evidence to the contrary.

19. C. Anderson – April 15, 2010

You referred to my spouse as “she”.

I do not consider roads, schools etc to be a privilege. And nothing I wrote suggested that. I do not want Medicare repealed. And your saying I have to object to both universal health care and medicaid at once is an easy out.

It was the Reagan tax cuts that got us out of the last recession. And you know what I mean by “where will it come from”. There is plenty of evidence that tax cuts spur the economy. And although I’d love to hear what “lynnrocket” considers “evidence of the contrary”, I will not be back to find out.

Lovely little blog you have. Too bad it’s pure fiction.

lynnrocketsApril 15, 2010

I intended to say “he/she” as is evidenced by my use of the terms “spouse” and “his/her” elsewhere in the same comment.

OK, if you do not consider roads, schools etc to be a privilege, then you must consider them to be a “right”. If so, I would love to hear your reasoning about that. Also, if as you have said repeatedly today, that you “do not expect to pay for other peoples services, like health care”, then why do you not object to paying for other people’s health care services through taxpayer funded Medicare? Indeed, Medicare is even more socialist than the health care reform law because no private profit making health insurers are in the mix.

Actually the Reagan tax cuts did not get us out of a recession. In fact, unemployment increased to over 10% almost two years after the tax cut. Also, Reagan followed the tax cuts with the largest tax increase in history up to that point in time. You might also remember that Reagan left us with a large deficit upon leaving office.

Enough factual evidence for you?

chirp, chirp, chirp… (OK, I added that one).

Makes your head spin doesn’t it?

TEA PARTY

(sung to the J. Geils Band song “House Party”)

They’re staring at the ceilin’
They’re droolin’ on the floor
Baggers everywhere comin’ through the door
They don’t have a clue what’s goin’ on
Scott Brown shedding his pants before long
They love when Glenn Beck cries
Like a baby, tears flowin’ from his eyes
They all watch him on the tube
He’s their favorite Fox News boob

They’re lovin’ the Tea Party
They’re lovin’ the Tea Party
They’re lovin’ the Tea Party
Tea-Baggers love a Tea Party!

Palin’s crazy and she has no soul
Spitting bile right from her pie-hole
With no clue, she’s koo-koo
Should have gone to better schools
She was a pregnant bride
Then that lady quit her job last July
She broke water on the move
That’s a birth that she can’t prove

They’re lovin’ the Tea Party
They’re lovin’ the Tea Party
They’re lovin’ the Tea Party
Tea-Baggers love a Tea Party!

(musical interlude)

They go on a bus ride
Guys and ladies congregate outside
Tea-Baggers are on the move
A bunch of slime with something to prove

They’re lovin’ the Tea Party
They’re lovin’ the Tea Party
They’re lovin’ the Tea Party
Tea-Baggers love a Tea Party!

They just move it, groove it
Baby, then they lose it
They just roll it, stroll it
They just can’t control it

They’re just lovin’ the Tea Party
They’re lovin’ the Tea Party
They’re lovin’ the Tea Party
Tea-Baggers love a Tea Party!

Yeah, Baggers love Tea Parties
Now we all know about Tea Parties
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
Smell that ol’ Tea Party

Na,Na,Na,Na, Hey, Hey Sarah Palin, Goodbye!

That’s it folks. It is all over. Sarah Palin is officially toast. Most progressives have realized that since her selection as John McCain’s nominee for Vice President, Sarah Palin was an uneducated imbecile that was incapable of ever being President. Thankfully, the rest of the nation has finally caught on. The most recent CNN poll reveals that the former ex-quitting governor of Alaska would be a double digit loser to Barack Obama in a head to head race for President. In fact, the poll indicates that she would be a distant third amongst Republican candidates.

The poll found that Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee and Newt Gingrich would all fare better against Obama than Palin. It also revealed however, that even they would lose by a hefty margin against him.

The bad news for Sarah Palin is that the poll found that 61 percent of Americans think Palin is not a typical politician, and half see her as honest and trustworthy. But 54 percent say they don’t agree with her on the issues, 56 percent say she is not a strong and decisive leader, and 69 percent say she is not qualified to be president. Palin is popular in the South and in rural areas, but her unfavorable rating is at or near 60 percent among women, suburbanites, Independents, and in the Northeast and West.

Stick a fork in her. Sarah Palin is done!

UPDATE ON YESTERDAY’S BOSTON TEA PARTY

For some great photos of Palin protest signs on Boston Common, take a look at Palingates Blogspot  here.

In honor of the troops, please remember to click on the song link below to familiarize yourselves with the tune and to have more fun singing along with today’s song parody which pokes fun at Sarah Palin’s criticism of those that Photoshop her pictures.

Photograph song link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6CMSuT98-E

PHOTOSHOP

(sung to the Ringo Starr song “Photograph”)

Ev’ry time I see her face
It reminds me of the waste thrown out the door
But all I got is this Photoshop
And I realize I can cut and paste evermore

Wish Sarah Palin would up and go away
If she won’t do it
I’ll keep Photoshopping away-yi-yay-yi-yay

I think I’ll add some monkey ears
That are spouting smoke and tears the color blue
I’ll make Sarah look grey and old
And I’ll leave a space to add something bold to say

(musical interlude)

She’s not expecting me to add too much rouge
But that is something that I’m looking forward to

I think I’ll add a dead reindeer
And I’ll go for broke with meerkats also, too
I’ll add a bear long dead and cold
With its tears gone dry and its head blown away

Ev’ry time I see her face
It reminds me of a wasted worn out whore
So I go to work with Photoshop
And I realize I can cut and paste evermore

Ev’ry time I see her face
It reminds me of the waste thrown out the door
So I go to work with Photoshop
And I realize I can cut and chop evermore

Ev’ry time I see her face
It reminds me of the waste thrown out the door

Palin’s Boston Tea Party Bombs!

The same outfit worn in Boston today.

Although Fox News will report that attendance was in the millions, the actual head count for Sarah Palin’s Tea-Bagger rally on Boston Common today was approximately 1000 (including protesters). Let’s put that in perspective. The population of metropolitan Boston is 4.5 million and only 1000 bothered to see Sarah Palin on a bright sunny Spring day with temperatures in the mid sixties . More people than that show up on a daily basis at Boston Common to watch a squirrel and a pigeon fight over a discarded pretzel. The television coverage of NECN embarrassingly showed a lot more green grass than human beings on the Common.

Palin protesters were present. Many were sporting signs which said, “Health Care Reform. No Thanks To Palin”. Another read, “Hey Sarah, Family Values = 30 Million Newly Insured Americans”. We will update with more on the protest signs as we learn more. One of the Tea-Baggers held a sign which said, “Remember When Dissent Was Patriotic?”, only it was misspelled as “Dessent”. How appropriate and predictable.

Palin was dressed in a red leather jacket with a flag button (as usual). She said that husband Todd was with her and that he liked this type of tea party more than the ones he was forced to attend with other first ladies when he was the “First Dude”. The former ex-quitting governor of Alaska spoke only for about 20 minutes. It was the usual nonsense drivel in which she criticized the current administration without offering even one single alternative policy initiative. She claimed that “radical” changes like the health care reform law and student loan reforms have alienated our allies. Huh? She uttered her tiresome refrain that “Bostonians, like the rest of America will continue to cling to our Constitution, our guns and our religion”. Of course, Palin did not realize that Massachusetts favors and harbors some of the most strict gun laws in the nation. Sarah Palin needs to do some homework about the venues where she speaks. Next, she said that “the government works for the people, not the other way around”. Perhaps she should ask the millions of federal, state and municipal employees about that doozy. In rapid succession she then said, “nu-cue-ler” “drill baby, drill” and “Ya betcha”. The best part of her speech was that the amplifiers cut out repeatedly such that most of the small crowd could not hear a word that she spoke. The rally was scheduled to last until 1:00 pm but the crowd was gone by 11:25 am.

At one point, Ms. Quittypants attempted to rev up the quiet gathering by claiming that she had a personal connection to Boston. She claimed to have been on a youth hockey trip here when she met 1980 Olympic hockey captain and champion, Mike Eruzione. Problem is, Palin forgot his first name and completely mispronounced his last name. Of course Mike Eruzione (the good Democrat that he is) was not present at the rally. Then again, neither was newly elected nudist Republican Senator Scott Brown, Republican gubernatorial candidate Charles Baker or Republican congressional candidate Jeffrey Perry. The Massachusetts Republican candidates (few that there are) realize that Sarah Palin and her violent yet silly rhetoric is toxic to their election chances.

Sarah Palin was introduced to the tiny audience by local uber-conservative talk radio host and columnist for the Boston Herald (Enquirer). Michael Graham. Graham airs his acerbic daily radio show on Boston’s WTKK (affectionately known as WKKK as the result of its almost entirely right wing lineup). It is interesting to note that Graham drew criticism from blogs on the Left and the Right for comments about Bill and Hillary Clinton made on CNN Headline News’ Glenn Beck Show on June 20, 2007. Referring to a Clinton campaign ad based on the final episode of The Sopranos, Graham said “…didn’t you at some point want to see, like, Paulie Walnuts, somebody come in here and just whack them both right there? Wouldn’t that have been great?…Come on! Where’s “Big Pussy”? Come on! Let’s make it happen…I wanted that.” Graham adores and advocates gun violence as much as his hero Sarah Palin.

Thankfully, the response to this version of the Boston Tea Party was tepid.

American Pie song link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAsV5-Hv-7U

ALASKAN PIE

(sung to the Don McLean song “American Pie”)

A long, long time ago…
I can still remember
Palin’s slutty flight attendant style
And when she blew her only chance
With John McCain in the Big Dance
In light of the pregnancy of her child

In February she did shiver
When Levi sold her down the river
Bad news at her doorstep
She didn’t have no more pep

The allegations she denied
Of all those gifts that she did hide
She took Alaskans for a ride
As she cajoled and lied

So bye-bye Miss Alaska bye-bye
You were shady and darn lazy
With a crazy beehive
And your background boys were making turkey head pie
Then you quit on the third day of July
Quit on the third day of July

Did you quit the job you love
After talking with God up above?
Did the good Lord tell you so?
Are you still pals with Plumber Joe?
Do dead fish still go with the flow?
And can Todd’s sister score me some good blow?

Well you know that your prospects are grim
’cause you’re way way out there on a limb
You’re sure to have the blues
Man, you screwed up those interviews

You’re just a lonely mid-aged “hockey mom”
With real deep frustration and a man that’s dumb
You’re just a third rate school alum
Today your future died

We started singing
Bye-bye Miss Alaska bye-bye
You were shady and darn lazy
With a crazy beehive
And your background boys were making turkey head pie
Then you quit on the third day of July
Quit on the third day of July

Now for two years all you did was drone
Remember Sarkozy on the phone?
But just what will your future be?
Will you pester us like a has been queen?
Will you pout and whine like a spoiled teen?
In a voice that sounds so shrill and mean,

Oh, and when you leave Wasilla town
Take along your beauty pageant crown
And bridges that you burned
Oh, please never return
And those hits you took will leave some marks
A “Barracuda” is no shark
And you were always in the dark
Today your future died

We were singing
Bye-bye Miss Alaska bye-bye
You were shady and darn lazy
With a crazy beehive
And your background boys were making turkey head pie
Then you quit on the third day of July
Quit on the third day of July

Helter skelter you are sure to swelter
The ice in your veins may even melt-ah
Ethics problems coming fast
You’re landing hard on your ass
No throwing stones in a house of glass
When you’re starring in a demon cleansing mass

Now your thinning hair reeks with perfume
You’re a spaceman cuz you see the moon
Your fans would shout and dance
Oh, to your “drill baby drill” chants!
Katie Couric made you squirm and squeal
And that was when your fate was sealed
Do you recall what was revealed
The day your future died?

We started singing
Bye-bye Miss Alaska bye-bye
You were shady and darn lazy
With a crazy beehive
And your background boys were making turkey head pie
Then you quit on the third day of July
Quit on the third day of July

Oh, and then that look upon your face
Not knowing a Supreme Court case
Forget about the Bush Doctrine
So come on: jack be nimble, jack be quick
Sarah Palin’s no “Maverick”
Cuz she’s just a “Barbie” to Todd’s “Ken”

As we watched you on that debate stage
Your hands were clenched in fists of rage
Everyone then could tell
You were praying for the bell
And as you hoped that you could land a right,
To salvage something of the night
We saw Biden laughing with delight
That day your future died

Joe was singing
Bye-bye Miss Alaska bye-bye
You were shady and darn lazy
With a crazy beehive
And your background boys were making turkey head pie
Then you quit on the third day of July
Quit on the third day of July

Palin’s a girl who has the blues
And she cannot handle interviews
She quit her job and walked away
She could not take it any more
She hightailed it right out the door
Just like a scared child, she up and ran away

And in the streets the voters beamed,
The good Lord had fulfilled their dreams
Sherry Johnston was tokin’
The “barracuda” broken
We did not really want to boast
But “Mama Bear” was finally toast
She’ll write about it through her ghost
That day her future died.

And we were singing
Bye-bye Miss Alaska bye-bye
You were shady and darn lazy
With a crazy beehive
And your background boys were making turkey head pie
Then you quit on the third day of July
Quit on the third day of July

We were singing
Bye-bye Miss Alaska bye-bye
You were shady and darn lazy
With a crazy beehive
And your background boys were making turkey head pie
Then you quit on the third day of July
Quit on the third day of July

Maybe Sarah Palin and the Tea-Baggers should listen to this…

Scott Brown Declines Sarah Palin Tea-Bagging Offer

Whenever Lynnrockets gets to use the names Scott Brown and Sarah Palin in the same headline, it is a good day for the Democrats.

That having been said, the most newly elected US Senator from the “Party of No” has just said “No” to  Sarah Palin. The former ex-quitting Governor of Alaska will be in Boston, Massachusetts tomorrow as one of the featured speakers at a Tea Party rally, but Scott Brown has refused her invitation to be tea-bagged. He dares not attend the event. Indeed, the headline in yesterday’s Boston Herald (the conservative tabloid rag which plays a distant second fiddle to Boston’s newspaper of record, The Boston Globe) blared, “Scott Brown Snubs Sarah Palin, Bags Tea Party Rally”.

Despite the fact that out of state money and support from the Tea Party played a significant role in the surprise election of the clothing challenged Brown in last January’s special election to fill Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat, the group and Palin are now too toxic to Brown’s 2012 bid for re-election in Blue Massachusetts. The Boston Herald quotes political analyst Lou DiNatale as saying,

You’re worried at a rally that there’s a sign, a statement, an incident that’s certifiably cuckoo occurs. To win re-election, Scott Brown floating to the right is a serious problem. And showing up at a Sarah Palin, Tea Party event is not the way to the middle.

No truer words have been spoken. The educationally challenged Palin continues to parade around the country inciting Tea-Baggers to “reload” in a clear reference to a call to arms. She has placed rifle-sight targets over the districts of Democratic Party politicians on a website and she has taken up the John Boehner (pronounced, Boner) mantra of referring to the Republican Party as the “Party of Hell No”. Her “fightin’ words” are clearly driving away the moderates and that is a constituency that Scott Brown needs in Massachusetts. The last thing Brown wants is a photo of him and Palin together. After-all, he has enough problems with that nude centerfold spread (see above and below).

The Herald report also reminded us however, that this is not the first time that Scott brown has snubbed Sarah Palin,

Shortly after his triumph, Brown denied receiving a congratulatory call from Palin, only to remember the exchange when pressed.

Now we must wonder how Palin and the Tea-Baggers will react. Sarah Palin never takes kindly to any kind of criticism and she is the de-facto leader of the Tea-Baggers. However, Scott Brown is the rising star of the Republican Party. Do Palin and the Tea-Baggers dare to work against Brown and thereby impair his chances of advancement within the party? Let’s hope so! Stay tuned for the Battle of the Celebrity Stars.

Joining Scott Brown in boycotting the Tea-Bagger event will be other prominent (If one can use the words prominent and Republican in the same sentence in MA) Massachusetts Republicans. Gubernatorial candidate Charles D. Baker and conservative congressional candidate, Jeffrey D. Perry will also find other things to do on Wednesday. Apparently, they also find Palin to be unpalatable.

Please Come To Boston song link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBpTedlEFsY

PLEASE COME TO BOSTON

(sung to the Dave Loggins song “Please Come To Boston”)

Please come to Boston late this spring time
Bring all your Tea-Bagger friends
To spread your doom and gloom
Holding misspelled banners on the sidewalk
Sarah Palin will fly in on her witch’s broom
Please come to Boston
For the show
It’s a Tea Party

And we’ll say, “Hey, Tea-Baggers,
Why don’t you settle down?
Boston ain’t your kind of town.
You’re being told that
We all despise Sarah P.
She won’t find many fans
Where we held the first Tea Party

Please come to Boston for a big brawl
Your heads shoved up in your asses so far
That they can’t be found.
Sarah Palin will bring the flames for fannin’
But Beantowners will bury her and not in hallowed ground.
Please come to Boston
Face your foes
In the city by the sea

And we’ll say, “Tea-Bagging boys,
Put your tea kettles down
Boston ain’t your kind of town.
You’re being told that
We all despise Sarah P.
She won’t find many fans
Where we held the real Tea Party

Now, Palin’s voice is a piercing sound
And no doubt, it’s never gonna stop
But ol’ Boston is a college town
With brains that she ain’t got
That goes for Van Flein too,
Her lawyer that she clings to.

Please come to Boston but not forever
Palin will provide a nice comedic fill
When her speech is finished we’ll throw her in the ocean
She’ll “go with the flow” like last July
She’ll look like an oil spill
Please come to Boston
Bring Plumber Joe
You can stay with Mitt Romney

And she said, Hey, Romney boy,
Why don’t you settle down?
Boston sure ain’t my kind of town
They don’t like fools so
They won’t like no-one like me.
No, no I am sure to be banned
In that city by the sea.
I am sure to be banned
In that city by the sea.”

Palin Plummets In Polls (Again!)

OUCH !!! This is gong to leave a mark. The most recent polls regarding Sarah Palin’s chances for the presidency have been released and once again, it ain’t pretty for Ms. Quittypants. First, the most recent CBS News poll reveals that Palin continues to receive unfavorable ratings from the American public overall. Twenty-four percent of Americans have a favorable opinion of Sarah Palin, while 38 percent view her unfavorably, according to the poll, conducted March 29 through April 1. Thirty-seven percent of the public is undecided or hasn’t heard enough to offer an opinion. Her ratings have held fairly steady over the past year. The CBS poll also demonstrates:

Palin has become a sort of spokesperson for the conservative Tea Party movement. She gave the keynote speech at the first National Tea Party convention this year, and she kicked off a national Tea Party bus tour last month.

Still, 39 percent of conservatives said they were undecided or hadn’t heard enough to have an opinion of Palin, compared with 36 percent who had a favorable view and 23 percent who said they had an unfavorable view of her.

College graduates were also among the demographic groups likely to have a negative view of Palin, the poll found: 52 percent of Americans with a college degree said they had an unfavorable opinion, while 33 percent of those without a degree had an unfavorable opinion. Among both groups, 24 percent had a favorable view.

Geography has some impact, too. While the former Alaska governor receives net negative ratings across all regions of the country, she gets her highest favorable rating from Americans living in the Midwest at 31 percent; her lowest comes from those residing in the Northeast at 18 percent. Men and women have similarly unfavorable views of Sarah Palin.

Some additional bad news came Palin’s way in the straw poll conducted by the Southern Republican Leadership Conference (SRLC) in New Orleans last week. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney eked out a one-vote victory Saturday in a presidential straw poll at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans. More than 1,800 delegates chose from a list of nine prospective candidates.

Romney, who ran for president in 2008 and skipped the conference, received 439 votes. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, who also ran in 2008, finished second with 438 votes. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who was a featured speaker at the conference, finished a distant third with 330 votes and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was fourth with 321 votes. The rest of the field trailed far behind.

For Sarah Palin, the straw poll was very disappointing. Despite being present at the conference and quite visible as a featured speaker, she was vanquished in the voting by potential opponents that did not even bother to show up at the event. The reality tv host got a whopping dose of reality.

Poor Sarah, this great nation of ours is quickly tiring of you.

And all this resultin’ from her lies

Losin’ ground, ship her out,
Headin’ down, movin’ fast

(sung to the War song “Low Rider”)

All my friends know the poll slider

Poll Slider is facing defeat, yeah
Poll Slider is gonna be beat, yeah

Poll slider is outta gas now
The poll slider is on her ass

Better get a grip, better get a grip
She is not the one to be
Better get a grip, better get a grip
She’s shunned by the G.O.P.

Sunday Morning Coffee (or Tea) – 32

Just a few newsworthy events that have been careening around the stratosphere this week.

BREAKING NEWS:  This week’s episode of “Tell Us Something We Didn’t Already Know” features the mother of the right-wing radical that threatened Nancy Pelosi. She blames Fox News for inciting her mentally imbalanced son to violently take action against Democrats. Watch this video clip of Countdown With Keith Olbermann:

THIS JUST IN:  More Nevada Republicans are calling for disgraced G.O.P. Senator John Ensign to resign. Ensign, you may recall, is the “family values” Republican that had an affair with a married staffer and then arranged to have his parents pay “shut-up” money when her husband caught on. It was later revealed that Ensign may have also arranged employment at a lobbying firm for his mistress’ husband and then approved legislation in favor of the firm’s clients. The Las Vegas Sun reports that “Nevada Republicans were upset “that Ensign seems oblivious to the collateral damage caused by his actions, and unwilling to make the matter disappear by resigning.” Johnny, we hardly knew ye.

BREAKING NEWS:  Democratic Congressman Bart Stupack of Michigan has announced that he will not seek re-election. Good. He was a thorn in the side of the newly enacted health care reform law because of his persistent anti-pro-choice stance. Let’s hope that the citizens of Michigan replace him with a true progressive Democrat.

THIS JUST IN:  This week’s episode of “It’s About Time” features Tom Fetzer.  The North Carolina Republican Party Chariman  has called for Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele to step down from his post, becoming the first committee member to publicly seek Steele’s resignation. This is the point where you add your favorite comment about lesbian/bondage strip clubs.

BREAKING NEWS:  Alaska natives are accusing the Catholic Church of using their remote villages as a “dumping ground” for child molesting priests. This problem seems to worsen by the day.

THIS JUST IN: This week’s episode of “Right Back At Ya” features president Barack Obama and the former ex-quitting governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin. In response to Palin’s misguided criticism of the President’s recent nuclear weapons pact, Obama said, “I really have no response, because last I checked, Sarah Palin’s not much of an expert on nuclear issues.” Way to go, Barry!

BREAKING NEWS:  This week’s edition of “Look Who Stepped In It This Time” features former Republican candidate for President, Mike Huckabee. The creepy evangelist and current Fox News host attacked gays once again this week in an interview printed in the College of New Jersey’s magazine. He said with regard to civil unions,

You don’t go ahead and accommodate every behavioral pattern that is against the ideal,” he said of same-sex marriage. “That would be like saying, well, there are a lot of people who like to use drugs, so let’s go ahead and accommodate those who want who use drugs. There are some people who believe in incest, so we should accommodate them. There are people who believe in polygamy, so we should accommodate them.

Huckabee also insisted that same-sex couples shouldn’t be allowed to adopt or become foster parents because they’re somehow unfit to take care of children:

Children are not puppies,” he continued. “This is not a time to see if we can experiment and find out, how does this work?

Looks like Mike may have angered a lot of people. Good luck with that next Presidential run, Mike.

HUCKABEE HOUND

(sung to the “Huckleberry Hound” theme)

The biggest clown in town is the Huckabee Hound
And his G.O.P. pals.
He has a big bald dome and he penned a bad poem
For those guys and gals.

Mike Huckabee fun is not for everyone,
In fact he inspires frowns.
If you are pro-choice,
He’ll offer you no voice
He’s Mike Huckabee Hound.

That oh, so sucky, rubber ducky,
Mike Huckabee Hound
